We had 2600 tracked items in an office that was averaging around 1000-1200 last Xmas peak.
You can probably expect to get at least double that during the peak this xmas, possibly something like 7-8k, you might even hit 10k

It won’t be getting delivered anytime soon that’s for sure, we still had working coming in by the artic load at 1030 when I left for delivery today. We even had a part timer (on a 5 hour a day contract) who starts at 0900 come into an empty frame by the time he left it was 1345, he could have cut off before he even left the office 🤦‍♂️

What a strange day! After weeks of endless chaos and parcels, today was quiet and the whole depot cleared our backlog and every frame was cleared.
For the first time in weeks I made it home in daylight with only 30 mins overtime, rather than my normal 2 hours overtime.
My DOM said to me before I left that I need to prepare myself for the next two weeks (this is my first Christmas with RM). Luckily I have the day off tomorrow, but if the past few weeks have been anything to go by, then I guess today was the calm before the storm...

I'm guessing your mail centre had a monumental failure! It was rammed at ours today the same as it's been for the last month or so apart from one day last week when the mail centre failed.....we paid the price the following day and there is still mail and parcels that came in last week that haven't gone anywhere yet

No calm here, just a raging month long storm. Leaving debris (packets) scattered all around the office. Only way you can keep up and clear is working a 55+hr week (without working your day off) . Madness.

Oh by the way , our Dom had us round the front today to tell us what a great effort were making and a good job we're doing in the face of adversity.............what do you mean, you don't believe me? Okay you're right, that's just what I'd do if I were in charge.

Parcels at usual end of the world levels but with the nice avalanche of Christmas cards added to the mix. Proper s**t day, tomorrow will be worse.

Can anyone please tell me when the Christmas pressure will peak?

Vans already bulking out 2 days in a row on collections. If it gets any busier we won't cope

Too late for that at ours now it’s too far gone after 3 days of not clearing parcels, be the new year till it’s clear as the pile will just keep getting bigger. That’s unless they can get 30 or 40 parcel drivers on the sundays but I think only 3 people have volunteered.

Well I'm on collections this Christmas and the last two days late collections I have had 7 Yorks on bulked out with another 6 Yorks handballed on.

Never seen anything like it. For sure the busiest Christmas for dispatching mail since about 2010 I think. Except that 10 years ago we had more staff to help in the evenings plus the walkmen used to come and help us on overtime. Nothing like that now

Good morning it's the postman there are packets for you.
Good afternoon it's the postman there are packets for you.
Good evening it's the postman there are packets for you.
Sorry to wake you. It is the postman. There are packets for you.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

If our DO didn't have enough people willing to stay extra with a couple of full time packet drivers it would have had already collapsed. There are packet drivers and there are some people coming back to top up their oversized. Madness. Overtime bill for period from 23rd nov to 24th december will surely be bigger than all summer months together.
