That's it I have resigned, well some still call it retirement

I resigned today with a finishing date of 11th Dec 2020, taking my final weeks leave from the 7th to the 11th Dec and my final pay date of 18th Dec 2020.
I joined RM in 1977 and left for voluntary work in mid 1980, returning in Jan 1981 till 11th Dec 2020.
Combined service, if you want to call it that, of around 43 years service.
Going at 59 years and 10 months and a half.
Getting out, while hopefully I have a few years left, oh and I won't have to wear that mask past this Friday the 5th, which is my last day actually working.
I got my first monthly pensions today and all of the lump sums to time.
Now just waiting on excess cash balance scheme monies within the next 12 weeks (I will let you know how I get on)
Plus to claim my £750 pension advice money on the 19th Dec.

Good for you mate I quit a couple of months ago ,age 63 after 37 years saved up enough to see me till state pension kicks in best decision oops I mean second best decision after 45 years with the wife apparently that was my best decision to marry her . No seriously if you can afford to retire early do it and enjoy it I wish you well

Good luck for the future Stephen. If you remember I took VR after 38 years service aged 57 in March & you worked out some future pension figures for me. Well 8 months later I'm loving every minute of retirement & I hope you do too.

£750 is pension advice money for those that take their NRA 65 pension and leave the business before the new CDC scheme becomes active.
You, if I remember correctly, have to also leave Royal Mail within 13 weeks of claiming your pension.
You do not have to use the money for actual pension advice either, but it is subject to tax and national insurance.
I would bank on it being paid automatically, always chase it up.

It works out with using some of my lump sum to supplement my pension, I end up with about the same disposable income as I had working.

I left just over a year ago on VR terms and after a couple of jobs and with COVID I have decided to stop working. Just having to wait 18 months to take my pension at 55 but have good savings and a income from my first house. Feeling years younger already and loving it
