Agreement expected to be reached next week

Post by Martin Walsh »

ROYAL MAIL GROUP - UPDATE ON NEGOTIATIONS

Highest level talks continue and both CWU and Royal Mail Group have committed to conclude these next week, including a pay deal which both CWU and Royal Mail Group want to agree in time for our members to see the benefit of before Christmas.

We are also in advanced discussions on the future direction of the company and job security for all CWU members.

We understand your frustration and the CWU negotiating team is doing everything we can to move these crucial issues forward.

We can confirm there will be a full programme of communications at the end of next week.

I'll honestly be shocked if any deal we get is backdated to April as well.

I bet it will.

£500 lump sum, something like 2% backdated to April, and vague suggestions of Saturday's off in the future . . . many members will take that, especially if it gets over the line before Christmas.

Of course RM will have heaps of strings attached to it. But we always take the money, Always.

This will not be done by Christmas.
it says agreement reached next week, then the thick union lawyers will look through the agreement to say yes or no to whatever points they deem wrong, so that's another week. Then we will need a vote on it to say whether we accept it or not. If it gets accepted then payroll will need a month to sort out everyone wages.
It didn't say which Christmas this would be sorted by though

I trust the union and Royal Mail will be working hard this weekend to reach this agreement. f***ing doubt it. Probably reconvene next Wednesday for a couple of hours via zoom followed by another update saying there is no update but we promise next week we will have. It’s getting embarrassing now, it should not have taken this long.

and i bet the negotiating team arent working as hard as us in delivery :whistle , its a f***ing disgrace the way delivery staff are being worked and treated ,ie under staffed and its not due to covid , deliverys failing for days and everyday , parcels just piling up , xmas failure this year for us and it will be the 1st time in 20+ years ive been a postie , so i hope the cwu dont try and twist everything round to a pay deal to deflect the real problems :evil/mad , need to sort the f***ing job out and quick .

No doubt any pay deal in terms of back pay will be a set lump sum if agreed and it’ll be pro rata....therefore shafting the part-timers 👎

Next week or not don’t we have to vote on this agreement as we are supposed to be a democratic union. Or are we led by dictators who assume that they know what we want
