AROUND 100 postmen and women walked out on strike from the Bridgwater Royal Mail Delivery Office in Friarn Street at the weekend.
The Communication Workers Union (CWU) which represents the employees said the workers were protesting on Saturday (November 21) against the dismissal of a young postman which they believe is 'unfair.'
The workers returned to work after an hour but Dave Chapple, a CWU representative, said further strike action could happen in the run up to Christmas.
“There is no doubt that further industrial action, including strike action, will take place in the run-in to Christmas if this young postman is not reinstated upon appeal,” Dave said.
“One feature of the walkout was that all five casual workers, not yet members of the CWU, joined the walkout. For them this was a first lesson in solidarity.”
But a spokesperson for Royal Mail said they have worked with the workers to resolve the issue.
“There was a short disruption to service on Saturday morning at Bridgwater Delivery office,” the spokesperson said.
“We sincerely apologise to customers in the area for any disruption to their mail services.
“Working with our people, we have resolved any areas of concern, and all staff are back to work.”

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
