Colin Macmillan claims he was laughed at by the postal worker when he voiced his concerns about the 'hazardous material' that was delivered to his home in Eaglesham, East Renfrewshire, on Wednesday.

A furious Scots man has blasted Royal Mail after finding a 'blood-covered' letter pushed through the front door of his home.

Colin Macmillan was left ‘dry heaving’ after the stomach-churning discovery in Eaglesham, East Renfrewshire, on Wednesday.

The 37-year-old initially thought the blood had come from a wound on his own hands but soon realised they were completely injury free.

He rushed out to speak to the postal worker who he claims ‘laughed’ at him when raised his concerns about the ‘hazardous material’.

Colin, who works in the car insurance industry, has made a formal complaint to Royal Mail and is horrified at the lack of ‘care’.

He said: “I was sitting having my coffee and the post came. I went up to grab it and picked up the letters when I noticed all this redness.

“At first I was like ‘oh Christ I’ve bled all over this letter’ so I checked my fingers and hands and realised there were no cuts at all and it hadn’t come off me.

“That’s when I realised the postman had bleed all over my letters and just put them through anyway - no knock at the door with an FYI.

“My stomach just dropped and I felt physically sick realising that I had handled a stranger’s blood.

“This is hazardous material being posted through my door. I tried to look for the postie in the street and I spotted him so I got my sandals on and went outside to speak to him.

“I said ‘you do realise you’ve just been bleeding through my post’ and he said ‘yeah I cut my finger’. I asked if he had any material or a plaster to stop it but he said no.

“I tried to explain that we are living in a pandemic world with Covid and that he was posting blood.

“Eaglesham isn’t exactly a young village - there’s a lot of old people who are shielding. I was immediately concerned not just for myself but for other people.

“I told him that it was absolutely disgusting, unacceptable and to expect a complaint but he just laughed.”

He added: “In a Covid-19 world, he’s spreading this contaminated material into people’s houses.

“There wasn’t even an apology or anything. I was raging and felt physically sick. I started dry heaving.

“I was so shocked about the lack of care or basic common sense.”

A spokeswoman for Royal Mail confirmed they have launched an investigation but declined to comment further.

Never offered him a plaster then! My experience is most finger cuts come from jagged springs in peoples letter boxes

People have no clue how sharp letterboxes can be (why would they? they never use them, especially their own).

We do get cits from sharp letterboxes (and old damaged/rusty letterbox springs), but often don't notice until we're a bit further down the road.

These things happen!

From my own experience, the actual image fell short of the mental image of a "blood-covered" letter. Is that letter sufficiently damaged (or at all) to warrant endorsement and be sent back out in a damage bag?
The machine stops.

Could it be a tea stain? Or maybe a coffee stain? Heavens! It could even be residue from hot chocolate.... perish the thought.

So now we know that Mr Colin Macmillan a 37 yo car insurance worker in Eaglesham, West Renfrewshire has a Virgin Money account of some sort.
That's a good start for gathering information for a possible scam. Some people just don't think of what info they're allowing on t'internet.

I dread to think how much dry heaving he would do if he was scammed.
