This product will allow Royal Mail to have this new product automated along with D2D and will be prepped on a Tuesday and warm called when other live mail is needed for that address and if none Mail is for that address it than gets delivered on Saturday.
This product will not be a new product.
This product will simply replace existing products.
Existing products that are covered by the USO and protect our jobs.
Surely you can see that Martin?

From Of Com -

Access mail is the main form of competition in the letters market in the UK and is facilitated by access to Royal Mail’s postal network. This means other bulk mail providers collect mail from businesses and other organisations, sort it and then insert it into Royal Mail’s network for delivery.

Access to Royal Mail’s postal network is currently regulated by Ofcom via the Universal Service Provider Access condition (USPA condition). The current USPA condition requires that Royal Mail provides services that are delivered within two working days from the sender posting (“D+2 access services”), and includes a margin squeeze control as well as other ancillary access obligations. Mandated D+2 access services ensure that, once an access item enters Royal Mail’s network, Royal Mail delivers that item to the recipient the next working day.

Royal Mail intends to introduce a new suite of access services (“D+5 Letters access services”) from 4 January 2021. The new services will defer the mail until there is another item already being delivered to the recipient’s address, subject to a maximum of four days after it enters the network.

Currently, these services fall outside the scope of the USPA condition. However, it is expected that they will be important services for access operators and could account for a material proportion of access volumes in the future. Consequently, we are of a preliminary view that D+5 Letters access services will be important in maintaining effective competition in bulk mail services, promoting efficiency within Royal Mail’s delivery operations and delivering benefits to users of postal services.

I'm not sure what point you're making by quoting the Ofcom piece Martin but it's pretty obvious that Royal Mail are introducing this product to replace D+2 access services and therefore take the bulk of what we deliver outside of the current USPA conditions undermining the USO from the inside.

If the union can't see that they need to go to Specsavers.

What happened to the £500 million loss?

If you read Royal Mail UK have made an operating loss of 187 million. For the first time in 6 years Royal Mail’s top revenue has grown which down dialled the loss from the original forecast.

I posted this in Average Pay and Annual Leave.

The information below is now Employment Law.

The Good Work Plan became law on 6th April 2020 and introduced several new measures designed to provide clearer and fairer terms of employment for individuals. These changes include the right to a contract of employment from the first day of employment as well as changes to the way holiday pay is calculated. From 6th April 2020 Holiday pay should be calculated over a 52-week reference period therefore when a colleague takes annual leave, their holiday pay should be worked out to include any paid overtime worked within a rolling 52 weeks period.

Is Royal Mail above employment law? The issue of Average Pay on Annual Leave is not negotiable and needs to be part of the 2020 settlement with the CWU. According to the above statement, they are now acting illegally.

Why isn't this being discussed? It's criminal!
