There is absolutely nothing in that article, it’s a newspaper guessing.

Sources said meetings this week had been 'constructive' and a settlement could be agreed before the end of the year.

It's the sort of statement you can make up without either party being likely to contradict you.

We should get a update this week when half year results are out.Woody Guthrie wrote: ↑15 Nov 2020, 09:56It's the sort of statement you can make up without either party being likely to contradict you.

Re: Royal Mail edging towards truce
Progress is being made. Further face to face talks next week , lot of issues in play , some now resolved. Hopefully within the next 2 weeks the CWU will be In a position to give members a full update.
The Daily Mail article is really just positioning the half year results next week.
I realise some will be frustrated at lack of comms but you can’t negotiate coving the issues in play and communicate at the same time.
All you would do is create is tensions in the talks and make it far more difficult to reach agreement .

Re: Royal Mail edging towards truce
Surely some if not all of the issues should be made known.members have no idea what's being negotiated which for us is baffling.your fighting for us but we have no idea what your fighting against.or what's being proposed on our behalf.

Re: Royal Mail edging towards truce
The issues were contained within the 21 issues which the members balloted on twice , plus the joint statement reached in June which included the £200 Covid payment and obviously what Royal Mail have proposed , some of which I have posted in previous posts.

Thanks Martin
It’s a long time ago since March and obviously a lot has happened in the world so I’m struggling to remember all the 21 points. Just had a quick look online but does anyone have a link to what was actually listed on the paper.

Hope your right Martin, it’s so frustrating not hearing anything at all, I do think that deferring of dsa mail they want to bring in in January is surely gonna impact on staffing levels required though, dsa must account for at least 75% of the mail on most duty’s. If it can be deferred for 4 days they could have 1 Posty doing 1st and 2nd class on about 4 duty’s to make up the time and won’t be enough work for everyone, maybe if parcels stay as they are now permanently but surely will drop off after Christmas/covid/lockdown

I don't think that parcels will ever drop back to their previous levels. I think Covid has accelerated the movement of shopping from high streets to online shopping
