Lack of storage space in DOs isn't a MC problem, it'll still get sent.sindba wrote:If there is *literally no room* in DOs it won't get sent.SpacePhoenix wrote:It'll get sent anyway. I think we normally get something like 10-12 arctics in during the night. Very shortly they're all likely to be full-up double stackers (think it's a 96 york capacity for a double stacker) and we'll get extra arctics in on top of that. Frankly it's tough s**t like it or not it'll get sent to the DOs as we'll have to make the room for all that lot. In past years diverting stuff between MCs would have been an option. Very likely that's not going to be an option this year. DOs can have casuals in, the local one covering where I live has had them in the past, the DOMs need to pull their finger out and get some sorted

This is just getting bizarre now. You seem to be taking this personally. None of us care if MC's send it or not. It's not a case of DO's/Posties not wanting it. It's that they cant handle the capacity. It's a very simple concept. There will be nowhere to put it. Literally nowhere to store it. Nada. Not physically possible. You have already mentioned safe storage. A DO's yard is not safe.SpacePhoenix wrote:Lack of storage space in DOs isn't a MC problem, it'll still get sent.sindba wrote:If there is *literally no room* in DOs it won't get sent.SpacePhoenix wrote:It'll get sent anyway. Anyway, Who gives a f**k. Not our problem. If they load my DO with so much s**t it starts blocking fire escapes then it will start to become an issue for me. Il refuse to step foot inside. Then it just becomes their problem again.

Each MC should have a independent inward Packet / Parcel Outhouse , after resorting Yorks where ever possible should be despatched directly to the DO
They should not be clogging up MC Loading Bays

Scary amount of mail and parcels yet again on a Saturday. Trying to tell as many of the ppl I deliver to to not leave it last minute this year for ordering Christmas parcels online or sending cards.

The state of DOs isn't my problem, even to just send the SDs we still need to be able to unload the artics. Any external storage/outhouse needs to be able to handle double-stacker, there's no where suitable anywhere near here. Pull your finger out and get the resourcing sorted, any DO can have casuals, with the amount of casuals being recruited this year, there's probably enough for at least a third of walks around the country to have a casual doing it as well. Maybe DOs need to have resourcing and recruitment taken out of their hands? With Covid test kits going through the system, I can see RM being very liberal with the dishing out of wilful delay charges in RDCs, MCs and DOs this yearRen Hoëk wrote:This is just getting bizarre now. It's going to be utter madness tomorrow. The york storage room in our delivery office is jam-packed with yorks full of parcels, and more have been brought in next to the frames in other sections. There's barely anywhere to walk in the sorting area; something of a health and safety hazard.
This is it. The Siege of Yorktown commences in the early hours of tomorrow morning.
