wont most postie just do what they do now?
Which is what? Just deliver it anyway?
Unless they decide the reduced call rate means bigger deliveries.
I can't complete today because I have to take all these letters that don't have to go?

So the benefit to the sender is what? Cheaper?

Sounds like a clever play to get business back, may as well pay a couple of pence more and use Royal Mail directly as potential it will get there quicker, certainly for the banks at least. And you can make walks bigger as well....

This to me seems like they’ll need a massive reduction in staff as 1 person can take the 1st and 2nd class of at least 3 deliveries to equate taking 1 full round of Mail out, really worrying times ahead.

subject to a maximum of four days after it enters the network
So is that, in the MC Monday, is that day 1? then DO Tue, is that day '1',or is that day 2? Wed day '2'? or is that day 3? Thursday day '3'? or is that day 4? Friday day '4'? or is that day 5?
Next week, I'll do a spreadsheet for when it gets to time MC on a Friday and other days....

D1 Mail centre, D2 delivery office, D3,D4,then D5 =Final delivery day. Not sure how mail will be kept an eye on as who’s gonna have time to check each slot to see which piece of mail is on its last delivery day and needs to be taken.

Is it possible that these items will somehow be held at the Mail Centre, where the sorting machines determine that there is no standard mail for that address and will then only go out to the Delivery Offices on Day 5, or when some standard mail arrives for an address (whichever occurs first)? So that the Delivery Office don't have to try and administer how long one of these items has been sat in the frame, pending delivery at a future date. Meaning that everything that arrives in the Delivery Office has to be delivered on the day of arrival to meet the service standard?

This article doesn't make it clear whether Ofcom have given the go-ahead for this major change to our service. Given that the majority of the letters & flats are posted through the DSA scheme this potentially moves us into an every other day delivery operation which many other countries have moved to. I thought RM stated they were not interested in moving to this style of operation but I was obviously mistaken.
In the linked letter from RM to Ofcom they state this change is an improvement to the call rate. I would suggest this is the opposite of that and will result in a very poor service. It would also result in many more job losses than moving to a five day operation which we understood would be starting from April 2022. RM state in their letter to Ofcom that they required a decision on this before the end of October. Yet another example of us being largely in the dark as to the future of RM and our jobs.

It does state in the proposal that the mail would be held in the MCs until there is deemed to be enough mail to deliver efficiently. I wonder if they have the technology to be able to determine this factor or if they would just let the mail out for delivery every second or third working day.

Not going to happen. DSA and non-DSA mail gets sorted together both manual and mech. It would probably mean the end of sequencing as there probably wouldn't be enough mail left to justify sequencing, besides we don't have the storage room

Its fairly obvious that walk sequencing will end relatively soon in favour of technology that reduces the need for staff to sort parcels to a minimal requirement.
