They pay me.
The union are my representative.
I pay them.
And?
Royal mail are not compelled to tell us anything, it's their game and their ball.
Collectively we pay the union millions on the presumption that they will be our player in the game and for that at the very least we deserve to know the score.
Are we hanging on to a no score draw in injury time or are we 5-0 down with another 45 minutes to play?

Apparently Liverpool broke the rules at the weekend because they allowed more than 6 in

The workload with parcels is becoming ridiculous, today me and my partner had to hand 3 large parcels back as the van was completely full. It’s only just turned October can you imagine the levels it’s going to reach come Christmas. And in a couple of weeks we start collection shite from people’s doors, thanks for agreeing that one behind our backs CWU.worktotime wrote:as the heading ,What the f**k is going on regarding this dispute ? as the company have dragged it out to get rid of our ballot and is it they plan to drag it out till xmas then f**k you ? and its also gone really quite from the CWU on this and to be honest our office rep is getting s**t everyday about whats going on and the staff have had enough with the lot of it and its getting worse and at boiling point and its not due to covid 19 , as the CWU are agreeing to trials and increasing workload on members which increase more pressure and the dims think they are untouchable and treat people like s**t , ie unpaid o/t , staff coming back after days off and leave to full frames as its not been delivered , do the CWU think this is right ? we have had 3 long term posties leave the job as they cant cope or is this the companys plan to f**k people off , is that what they class as natural wastage ? come on Terry there taking the PISS to get what they want , do summat before you lose members .
Terry pullinger and Dave Ward should be dragged into a delivery office to witness what’s going on for themselves instead of doing Facebook videos from their bunkers. And if you really want to wind yourself up do a quick google search on the salary’s of those two. It’s unbelievable.
Completely agree with what you guys are saying. I have had days off on rotational and came back in with my walk having not gone out - with the managers saying “not enough staff”. I am currently on a 1/7 shift due to covid and not enough vans as we can’t van share. I don’t get out till around 2:30 sometimes due to waiting for vans so I’m literally rushing to finish my round. I heard my office isn’t getting anymore vans for Christmas which is ludicrous. What do they expect us to do? We can only go so fast - and with the new collections they have added, well that’s just gonna put more pressure on us posties.

Have the locla van hire places run out of vans? It won't be just RM that'll be looking to get hold of extra vansmarkarronsmith wrote:I heard my office isn’t getting anymore vans for Christmas which is ludicrous. What do they expect us to do? It’s interesting that the same union is threatening BT with strike action but we need to get real about it, this is after Terry banged the table and said we would rather smash the company up ourselves than let these lot do it.

An "official" work to rule is industrial action and requires a legal ballot.Grumpyoldmailman wrote:If a strike is as damaging as Terry thinks it is I would suggest a work to rule ballot should be issued. I doubt a court could over turn that and it would have the same effect. Either way this can’t go on.

If it was adhered to by 100% of the staff then it would have a massive effect. Sadly after 2 days the same crowd will be starting early for free, skipping breaks, ditching trolleys, hopping fences etc etc.Grumpyoldmailman wrote:That’s what I said. In order to work to rule you have to know the rules of work.
At least 10% of members would be suspended on day one.

They didn't materialise but 600 disagreements did.
Therefore the second hour didn't happen.
Which made no difference to our full time colleagues who generally didn't want the hour off if it meant working harder (or smarter as management like to say) but a huge difference to part time colleagues who missed out on a pay increase.
I agreed with you.

The thing that worries me most is as a Union we pay our subs to protect us in the workplace, when we have had the biggest yes vote ever achieved as a union and then our leaders fail to act on it we are in a very dangerous place, personally i think this Union is finished it is now just run as a business ,have you seen the CWU benefits they offer its a complete rip off .Sometimes i wonder if the whole country should just walk out and if it bankrupts the union so be it they are no use anyway at least we would have some dignity and respect who wants to live their life being treated like we do at Royal Mail .

What, you think a country-wide walkout (allegedly bankrupting the union?) would lead to better T&C's in some way?guardianangel wrote:The thing that worries me most is as a Union we pay our subs to protect us in the workplace, when we have had the biggest yes vote ever achieved as a union and then our leaders fail to act on it we are in a very dangerous place, personally i think this Union is finished it is now just run as a business ,have you seen the CWU benefits they offer its a complete rip off .Sometimes i wonder if the whole country should just walk out and if it bankrupts the union so be it they are no use anyway at least we would have some dignity and respect who wants to live their life being treated like we do at Royal Mail .

Nope never said that ,but i'd rather keep some dignity and respect than get s**t on everyday, watch them all squirm when the postal system comes to a standstill and highlight the shitbag company they are,i'd rather it all go tits up than be treated like a dog.Tman wrote:What, you think a country-wide walkout (allegedly bankrupting the union?) would lead to better T&C's in some way?guardianangel wrote:The thing that worries me most is as a Union we pay our subs to protect us in the workplace, when we have had the biggest yes vote ever achieved as a union and then our leaders fail to act on it we are in a very dangerous place, personally i think this Union is finished it is now just run as a business ,have you seen the CWU benefits they offer its a complete rip off .Sometimes i wonder if the whole country should just walk out and if it bankrupts the union so be it they are no use anyway at least we would have some dignity and respect who wants to live their life being treated like we do at Royal Mail .

Our culture is very different from the French who have a tendency to take to the streets and protest en masse. Its ironic that they have one of the weakest Unions in Europe and yet they have been working les 35 heures for years.
Their lack of Union recognition may well be one of their biggest strengths in negotiations. Terry kept reminding us that "we are the Union". If that was the case then why aren't we in the negotiating room with Royal Mail getting the best deal for us workers? Why instead are we getting titbits that infer that the CWU are not going to ballot for a strike and that we should just willingly have our pants pulled down and accept whatever Royal Mail are offering up the ar$e. Customer collections, van sharing during a pandemic etc etc
But then I remind myself that its probably years since Dave Ward did a round in good old London Town where the streets are paved with gold.
