It only shows service up to 1st April 2012 afaik, you should get a separate statement from RMPP later showing the rest of your pension and service from 2012 onwards.rks wrote:Anyone know why total service is showing about 8 years short than it should, on mine ?

My Total Service with RMSPS is quoted as 32 years and 300 days. Using a online calculator from my start date I get 17th Feb 2012 ?Jefferson Starfish wrote:Read RobertT's post up thread!rks wrote:Anyone know why total service is showing about 8 years short than it should, on mine ?

Did you join the pension from your start date? My own statement is similar because I didn't get enrolled in the pension until 3 months after I started with the company, probably because I didn't have a contract those first 3 months.vmaxv4 wrote:My Total Service with RMSPS is quoted as 32 years and 300 days. You joined the pension scheme after you joined the company.
Time spent working part time will be a pro rata amount of pensionable service.
Strike days or unpaid leave will be taken away from total service.

Then it could possibly be as Robert says down to strike days over the years? seems like a lot of strike days though.vmaxv4 wrote:When I/We all joined RM it was a full time contract on a 43 hrchocolatesaltyballs wrote:Did you join the pension from your start date? Given that most people on here generally know more than average about pensions and are still having difficulties understanding the new statements, just wait until next week when everyone has received them. The pension centre will be flooded with calls and emails about the figures, it will be a nightmare for the admin staff!

Ah!! Strike days ( Our office was notorious for having the most strikes back then)RobertT wrote:Possible reasons:vmaxv4 wrote:My Total Service with RMSPS is quoted as 32 years and 300 days. I personally wouldn't have a clue if it wasn't for RobertT and a few others and I reckon the majority of posties are the same. Not that they're stupid just that most haven't bothered to check over the years and have trusted the company to get it right. Thanks RobertT for your invaluable input on this board.NorthernBoy wrote:Given that most people on here generally know more than average about pensions and are still having difficulties understanding the new statements, just wait until next week when everyone has received them. RMSPS will be service up to 31st March 2012.......the odd few days you are out is probably because the pension join date and the service date are slightly different?vmaxv4 wrote:My Total Service with RMSPS is quoted as 32 years and 300 days.
