Locally temps are forecast to be about 28-29 C on Friday and Saturday but basically 2 weeks 24-25 C +PostmanBitesDog wrote:Like most other people I had almost no letters and parcels today, but it gave me a chance to smash out all of this week's door-to-doors in one fell swoop. That'll free me up for the rest of the week for any potential large letter and parcel volumes as well as the possibility of crappy weather.

An average Tuesday today. Not swamped, but busier today than yesterday. All door-to-doors done for this week. Yay!
But as I expected, the weather today was crappy. It drizzled in the morning, was grey all day, and light rain fell throughout the afternoon. And it was cold. What a miserable summer.

Anyone else delivering that direct mail / junk from Boden? DSA from city mail or something.
Made me laugh as it advertises different clothing discounts on different days. Delivered them on the 4th but the last two days they missed a discount on gowns/dresses on the 2nd and 3rd haha.
That's what you get for using DSA and not Royal Mail directly!!

Busy today, but done on time as usual. And then I dropped by a fish & chip takeout afterwards for a good deal. This place had signed up for that "Eat Out to Help Out" 50% discount scheme where customers pay only 50% of a meal and the HMRC pays the restaurant/takeaway owners for the other 50%. Runs through August.
Oh, and the number of police and ambulance sirens I heard today was overwhelming. All this week so far, sirens wailing everywhere.

I thought it doesn't apply to take away?PostmanBitesDog wrote:Busy today, but done on time as usual. And then I dropped by a fish & chip takeout afterwards for a good deal. The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

It doesn’t but it’s become abit of a racket up here, all the takeaways I deliver to seem to have but a table and a couple of chairs in so they can claim people were eating in, doubt if the government will get round to checking up.clashcityrocker wrote: thought it doesn't apply to take away?

Not exactly chilly today and looks like we could be in for for dangerously hot days for at least over the weekend starting tomorrow...

I had a quiet day today. I managed to check out that CWU Facebook session with Toilet Plunger--- sorry, Terry Pullinger. My anticipation level was high for the first five seconds. Then I fell asleep.

Fairly average day but f**k me it was hard going. Baking hot and I had a hangover. Lesson well and truly learnt.

Took off own walk to cover what seemed like 3 or 4 days worth of mail on another walk. Letters were the priority today I was told
