I ended up extending by an hour. It was more like a Wednesday than a Tuesday.

Go in, prep 2 duties, deliver for 4.75 hours. Finish right on time.

Will be the same again tomorrow.
Same here, commenced delivery at 8 and finished at 3 with full meal break and brought back about 90mins work and I'm by no means slow. The difference between offices is staggering.
It's unbelievable isn't it? I've seen people mention on here that they can work far quicker on their own. There's no way that shared vans were so inefficient that going solo has now turned each duty into a 3-3.5 hour span, some even mentioning 2 hours on a quiet day. Just an observation though, so good luck to them. :Very Happy

I was carrying a parcel to someones front door, and a dog came running at me so I used the parcel as a shield between me and the dog so if it tried to bite me it couldn't. The owner saw it and apologised. I got the usual "oh he's alright hed never bite anyone". So I turned my leg around and said yeah sure I've heard that one before showing a bite mark scar on my calf. Next thing I know the manager is onto me about a customer saying I was rude. Well I said, they have a rude dog!!!

I hear that comment from a lot of dog owners, too. I'm not afraid of dogs, but every time I hear that comment about "my dog never bites anyone," I've always been tempted to reply to them about people who suffer from Cynophobia.

Everything went perfectly well today. No issues at all. And I got to finish on time. :Very Happy

But throughout the day, and even as I type this comment, I can't help but feel a sense of dread about the job. An anxious feeling that keeps gnawing away at me. It's as if job cuts are around the corner, or major changes are in store in our office that won't go down well with the posties. Or that paranoid feeling one has that might involve a serious meeting next week with the top brass, even though I've not had any issues doing my job. :nervous

I don't know, maybe it's all imaginary. But in the current Royal Mail climate? Anything bad can happen.

I feel the same. The leadership of the union don't seem to be shouting "no job losses" any more and have recently announced a negotiated extension to the present MTSF agreement which includes redundancy payments.

Same here. I’m tired of reading that we are busy so our jobs are safe. I think those higher up knew the Rico ‘stick’ approach wasn’t working so now we will be given the good cop/carrot approach.

As I’ve said numerous times changes in the job don’t worry me - I’ll accept if I have to start at midday, I’ll cope if I’m expected to do more walking, I’ll manage if all overtime is stopped. The only thing that worries me is losing my job.

Anyway Saturday was a good day...I learned how to write CV19 (which we still use) upside down!

b1^)
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

Yep, hardly worth coming into work today. I should've just come in tomorrow and deliver two days worth of mail: the sweet F.A. from today and Tuesday's light amount. Of course, there's still the Tracked and Specials to deliver, but I could've come in for an hour and deal with those, and then go home. :Very Happy

But seriously, the amount of mail in the past few Mondays has been very light. I'm wondering if this is a short-term trend due to the pandemic, or could this be permanent?

Interesting. I've been wearing my own trainers all spring/summer since I put my shorts on. Yesterday we had a visit from the Area Manager to give us an update on the "perilous" situation that the business finds itself in and how things have to change blah blah blah. So I asked her a couple of questions which she was unable to answer then basically told her that until she was able to answer the questions that we all want answers to there was pretty much no point in having a huddle and inviting questions. Got to work this morning and within 5minutes of my arrival the DOM asked me if I would like him to order me a new pair of Royal Mail issue shoes. What's prompted that I asked him ? Just noticed you're wearing trainers he replied. If you want then I said. They're very comfortable (as if he'd know) he said. Not as comfortable as these I I replied pointing to my trainers. Now I went around everyone else in the office who wear trainers (and plenty do) to see if the DOM had spoken to them about footwear and guess what? He hadn't. Does anyone think I have a bullying and harassment case?
