I'd hazard a guess it by design so they can justify the need to shift Saturdays mail to Monday on a permanent basis

Do you think they are hiding the mail somewhere?
Tomorrow will be no different. There simply isn't enough work to justify a six day delivery.
I'm beginning to think 4 days for letters would be more than ample.

Theres enough mail for 6 day delivery in our DO given that most duties only go out 4 days a week.

We now get stuff(TV times) that used to come every Tuesday on a Thursday, Screwfix stuff that was always a Monday now comes Tuesday or Wednesday. Monday used to be one of the busiest days mailwise in our office it is now deader than Tuesday. So yes maybe they are, funnily enough Mondays have only been this dead since the end of the 6 week no mail Saturdays trial, before that started it wasn't anything like this. Maybe 4 days would be ample in your office because you've got too many duties so not enough work to fill your hours, a revision should sort that out

Flats seemed to have picked up and small packets are still very busy. I think 5 days for letters and small packets will happen within 2 years but the current level of small packets should mean its not possible to go below that number.. in my office people only finishing about an hour early everyday, and most of us start 30 minutes early anyway, so really only go 30 minutes over. A 3 or 4 day operation would mean going over everyday!

I don't understand the maths...
You finish an hour early every day.
You start 30 minutes early.
How does that equate to going over 30 minutes each day?

Even factoring in the meal relief - on a 30 minute meal relief that means completing on time, on a 40 minute meal relief going over by 10 minutes.
If you only had a 4 day operation your working day would be longer. And you are assuming nothing else changes. And it might.

Went in - hardly any letters thrown in.
Prepped it and delivered it. Start 8.45. Finished 12.30. (Though that includes a 30 minute meal relief which technically I wasn't entitled to)

Same here, commenced delivery at 8 and finished at 3 with full meal break and brought back about 90mins work and I'm by no means slow. The difference between offices is staggering.
