A POSTIE told workmates he’d get a gun and seek revenge for them allegedly calling him Jimmy Savile, a tribunal heard.

Colin Richardson also said he’d be willing to “go to jail for the rest of my life” over the fallout.

Royal Mail bosses claimed he issued the threats after being quizzed about sick leave he’d taken from their Falkirk depot while suffering from anxiety, depression and paranoia.

A report said Mr Richardson “thought a colleague was spreading rumours” and that one had referred to him as “the Jimmy Savile of the Post Office”.

It added that he was “noted as saying, ‘If it doesn’t get resolved I’ll take matters into my own hands to get justice. I can go to Liverpool to get a gun easy.’”

The report went on: “He said he was ‘happy to spend the rest of his life in jail to get revenge’.”

Mr Richardson made a formal complaint of bullying and harassment against seven workers in 2017. But worried managers then changed building access security codes and cops were informed of his “delusional” allegations.

Mr Richardson was sacked after 22 years’ service but claimed he was a victim of unfair dismissal and disability discrimination due to his mental health problems.

He said “he never intended to follow through” with his threats.

But a Glasgow employment tribunal rejected his case, saying Royal Mail had a duty to protect staff.

Vile ex-DJ Savile has been linked to hundreds of sex crimes since his death in 2011, aged 84.

Playground behavior can have consequences, it's bullying behavior and the biggest failure is the bosses have failed to deal with it effectively in 2017 leading up to this event.

It had led to fights and murders in other workplaces.

As if sacking someone will protect the staff. If said person wants to stab a postie all they have to do is go to the places they deliver. There should be an investigation into bullying and support given to prevent the said person actually turning into a murderer.

Poor handling by RM.

Calling someone essentially a pedo and god knows what else is not a serious B+H case and not taken seriously. But making off-hand threats in retaliation/anger is.
Doesn't surprise me though.

Hows about that then? No this should have been nipped in the bud as they say it is a failure of management not stopping banter becoming detrimental to the welfare of it's staff how would you like to be called after a paedophile even the idiot who said it must have realised at the moment of saying it. There is banter and abuse same for sexual harassment or racism or insulting ones faith or sexual orientation lets stop it before it gets to this stage.
