With these pensions being so complicated, how on earth would you ever know if mistakes have been made. Big errors you may notice and be able to query but for a lot of people in retirement an error that deprives you of £5 or £10 per week could make all the difference.
Just reading some of the questions on this forum proves there are many out there who even with all the paperwork in front of them have absolutely no clue what they are due and when/how they get it, and that's the ones enlightened enough to ask a question on an internet forum.

Even contacting the pension administrators can leave you in doubt and worried. I recently phoned them up to start the ball rolling for obtaining my NRA 60 pension early at 55. I explained I would be 55 in September and the advisor said did I want my figures to calculate my pension from my birthday in September or today? I said I can't take my pension from today because I'm not 55 until September! I now have no idea if she knows what she's doing, will I get my estimated figures within 3 weeks as she said or will I have to chase it and find nothing has been actioned because she didn't know what she was doing. I think we all deserve better service than that.

Yes the worrying thing is if they get it wrong, I think they can attempt to claw it back. Imagine if you had spent your lump sum and they then said, they want 5 grand back!
I pointed out to the centre that my min lump sum was coming in at 3.29 x my pension and not 3x as is normally the case and he said, that that is basically accounting rounding up. That rounding up to me is about £1000 extra lump sum. Maybe if I get paid that, as said they will want it back one day!

The whole process has been a complete farce. Although I wanted to retire at 60 and take the nra65 pension at the same time, I could not get the nra65 quote until I had the nra60 in payment. As I will no longer be employed by royal mail it will be several months before I will receive my full pension. It's been a joke from start to finish.

Was supposed to get my pensions paid a week ago. Nothing paid in so I emailed rmpp and capita.
Rmpp to their credit replied quickly. They said it had been forwarded to admin to be processed but had been "missed"!
They then said they'd arrange faster payment method of lump sum and ask capita to do same but couldn't guarantee it.
Monthly pension will now be paid from end of July so a month later than it should have been. Luckily I'm not in desperate for it but just a warning to others you may well have to chase them up!

I finally received by NRA60 lump sum from Capita 7 weeks after my 60th birthday. When I queried this with them they said there is actually nothing in writing as to when the lump sum will be paid out but they will always aim to make it as close to your birthday as possible. I don't call 7 weeks close at all.

Breaking news: Well just keeping up the diary and every one in the loop.
I received this e mail from RMPP in response to the copy I had sent them of the RMSPS e mail I have had.
Dated Friday 3rd July 2020. (appilcation date 1st June 2020, just to show you where I am up to.

Today received life time allowance forms.
Note that when the form says "other" pensions, rather than just the RMPP, it DOES mean the RMSPS and you have to include the amounts, provided by Capita (cabinet office) sent with the NRA 60.
Banking details you do not have to fill in, provided you are happy to have them pay the pension into the bank account your wages are paid into.
You also have to tell them about any "trivial" pensions you have.
All of this should not take you above your LTA for pensions.

I have not attached the bank mandate form, as that is simple and basically a standard template for payment into accounts.

All of this is so, you can see the time frames and get a feeling of the process as you claim your pension. (Diary)

I am returning them tomorrow (posted Sat 1st class recorded - 11/7/2020) and that gives me 3 and half months till my requested payment date of 1st Nov 2020.
I have some one at Capita, that Jon Lewis has promised will help keep things on track for me.
But first RMPP have to communicate with Capita.
I wonder if internal politics is happening between RMPP and Capita and each trying to make each other look bad.
I hope not, they would be playing with our financial lives, just to score points off each other,
I appiled on June 1st, because of the problems we have known about, in order to get the max amount of time to get it all sorted.
So if you say 3 months, then fingers crossed I will get mine to time!
Btw, we never hear of members who have had every thing run smoothly, perhaps the bad cases are rare? Who knows.

Forgot to add this was paid quite quickly I recall.
