Only someone who has never punched the clock would ever call for that over the flexibility of signing in.

Ive only been working for RM for just over a year and I still don't understand the point of signing in/out unless it's a H/S reason. For months, I never signed in/out and wonder wether any body even looks at the sheets.
Clocking in/out would certainly make it easier to claim O/T unless RM still insist on signing for all hours worked even when it's them asking you to work over.

Roll calls aren't done during building evacuations so really the only reason is to prove someone has turned up and worked their shift

At the start of the holiday year I was a week short.

When I queried this I was told that I had taken a week in June 2018 which I knew I hadn't, the PSP system showed that I had so the only recourse I had to prove I was right was to pull the signing on sheets from June 2018 and show my physical signature on those dates.

So it shows that computerised systems are only as good as the person responsible for them and the only thing that could be relied upon was some ink on a piece of paper.
