I don't know yet how it will pan out but it looks like you will be doing two jobs for the price of one and all done because it is in the national interest to do so

maybe but you will also be a milkman, what they will do will give you two uniforms , when you finish your walk you can change into a milkmans uniform and then deliver the milk that will be dropped off by another postman/milkman

Could be, and then again there could be a plane ready for take off and after your round you can fly it down to Alicante or Xanthe.
It's about as likely..

That's not really how hourly paid jobs work.

Under the current workload there is no room for manoeuvre so revisions and the removing of duties in deliveries will be near on the impossible.
Any duties that made longer will simply see staff cutting off and working to time.

well i suppose we could do that....then maybe sweep the roads as we go around as well, maybe get some shopping in for the old folk. all in all they can have us multi tasking as much as humanly possible. but they can make you do f**k all once your duty time is up. after this new revision is finished that we are due to get at our office, i hope they stick 10 loops on me. :thumbup p.s.....can't remember the last time i saw a milkman. i thought they were extinct. :whistle

We have duties the old boys/arse kissers do that take half the time of the new part timers duties....time for clocking in and out methinks will be piss funny to see the slack barstools having to actually do a full days work....bring it on.
About time the workload was evened out even if it means more work we have a start and finish time but some members of the same grade feel they should work 20-25 hours a week for 38 hours pay.
There is a change to implement straight away but obviously as usual this won't be addressed.
What will be will be--there will be bigger problems to come outside of royal mail soon...second wave is coming!!!!! Via Barnsley.
See you down the pub for a stale ale & Corona crisps

They have always had the power-remember the CWU agreeing to the "as directed "gem. It is clear that the Royal Mail is going to do it. I have seen letters circulating saying if you are back early they will send you to do other work including delivering milk and groceries. This new technology will be used it is not there for show. From what I can see from this joint statement the CWU is in favour of this.

You can't not work your contractual hours. But like I said in the above post, there's no room to move with the current workload.
And the "as directed" must be done in duty time and not beyond your finish time.

But what are they going to do with the milk and groceries if no one else gets back early?

Only someone who has never punched the clock would ever call for that over the flexibility of signing in.
