not so much botheted about waiting extra day more about the status not updating cos they might not bother to deliver it if they think I not paid itbmlodge wrote:It's weird that is. I've paid a custom fee like really early in the morning, say Monday morning at 7.30 am and the earliest RM could deliver was Wednesday?? Why is this? A few years back it always used to be next day, as in Tuesday. Even our postie at work is baffled by this and sometimes he actually makes another trip just for me to get me the item even though I tell him not to bother. Always came next day when I paid the fee using the Frankie machine at work too, but not any more.

I’ve just checked the tracking on this, via the Royal Mail website. The seller sent it on Monday 22nd June, so less than two weeks ago. RM put it on a plane to Nigeria the following day. So either it is held up in Nigerian customs or the carrier at the Nigerian end doesn’t support the tracking system. Either is possible.
I don’t think anyone on here will be able to give you specific advice about the Nigerian customs service but, in general, many countries have delays due Covid-19. Two weeks isn’t that long at the moment.

As you bought these online, you should be filing a claim with the seller, not the postal services. When you file it depends on the contract you had with the seller, i.e. when they said it would arrive when you paid for it. If in doubt, you need to contact the selling platform to enquire (eBay, Amazon etc).

Hi Royalmail chat team, I appreciate you taking time to answer our questions, thank you.
I too have an "in transit " message from 10th June 20 for an A4 letter to Australia:
Tracking no. LP029966673GB
Your item is now leaving the UK. More information will be available when it arrives in the destination country.
Does this likely mean that the letter has been sent over but hasn't been accepted/processed in Australia yet ?
Possibly they have 14 day quarantine on packages, however this is almost a month now.
Any guidance would be appreciated , thank you.

I don't think so. I have never heard of this, and anyway, the virus can only live for a day or two on inanimate objects, so that would be pointless.Virtualjobber wrote:Possibly they have 14 day quarantine on packages...
Your item is almost certainly stuck in a queue waiting to go through customs. This happens to all items, even letters. For instance, Australia are known to scan all items so that they can confiscate cash that has been sent in the mail, and most cash will arrive in letters.
