Dear Colleagues

Covid -19 – Temporary transfer of Parcelforce Adidas Contract to Royal Mail

The union was informed this afternoon by both Royal Mail and Parcelforce that a decision has been taken to transfer the delivery of items associated to the Parcelforce, Adidas contract to Royal Mail on a temporary basis. We are informed that the decision is designed to better realign workload and fulfil customer service during the period of unprecedented parcel volumes across Royal Mail Group.

The items will enter the Royal Mail Network at SWDC and NDC and will be distributed through the Royal Mail network as Tracked 24 items. The workload will transfer from the 1st June 2020, though due to a Bank Holiday in Germany it is anticipated that delivery volume will be received in Royal Mail from Tuesday 2nd June 2020.

The Adidas contract will remain proper to Parcelforce, who will continue to manage the account and the items will continue to have Parcelforce labels. Parcelforce will continue to provide the returns collection service from POL outlets.

The temporary transfer of the delivery of these items will be reviewed on an ongoing basis.

Both departments are engaging with the business to clarify arrangements and further information on volumes will be circulated following those discussions.

Well this just shows parcelforce are being put out of business by tracked 24s and tracked 48s

The rest going to DPD

Need to be careful addidas dont start using our competitors like hermes or DPD now that they are going to get worse service

Or Parcelforce are as swamped as RM? Perhaps giving us the (mainly) smaller items frees up their capacity for larger items?

I guess this will include Reebok items as well.

Spot on......... the more work the better!!! I would rather we were hammered every day than the work was drying up. When will people on here realise that more work equals job security. Anyone who still can’t fathom this simple fact only needs to look at EasyJet, BA, the travel company who’s name escape me that owns hotels and coach companies, Monsoon, Accesorize etc etc. Wonder how many of their staff in the past wished for the work to dry up and now they have that wish. And guess who’s paying the price for that in job losses. Incredible how many times on here you see people wishing for the work to dry up. I’m sure people think that if we have no work they’ll still go in, do feck all and still pick up £400 at the end of the week.

From speaking to the PF driver I see daily on my duty and from my own experience I wouldn’t be surprised if we get lots more of their work. It’s stacked up in trailers in Coventry apparently and they can’t cope with it. I had a parcel due through them a couple of weeks back and I got “address inaccessible” 2 days running on it :hmmmm . Not sure how we will cope with taking there work but as others have said about the more work the better.

Same. We all like an ‘easy’ Tuesday, not that we’ve had one lately, but the amount of colleagues who complain at how busy it is, how they wish it was like the old days when you had just a handful of parcels is unbelievable.

The more work available to us the better, and yes no matter how much work is there you only have to work your hours.
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

Totally lost on many people. I think early finishes must be so ingrained in some offices that people aren't used to working their full hours.

No I haven't, but in my area we deliver royal mail and parcelforce due to being in a small area.

All I'm saying is that royal mail changed the pricing on tracked 24s which means why would a company send them through that rather than parcelforce for the same service more or less.

Whereas this time last year parcelforce seemed to have alot more coming through but is now coming as just tracked.

PF are snowed under at the moment and it’s unmanageable. Despite RM having some issues in certain areas with backlogs due to no overtime being paid and the social distancing problems in mail centres I would bet that the performance of the tracked products is excellent.

Luck you if you are picking up 400 most people in our office are part time and we struggle to get paid properly in overtime every week.Extra work is great if they actually starting paying for the hours we worked instead of just disputing every hour you claim
