Signed for 1st Class to DVLA

Post by pwawmbly »

Hi
I sent my driving licence to DVLA 7 days ago via the ’Signed For 1st class’ service. The tracking code is still not showing the item as delivered. should I be worried or is there likely some delay either with the postage or the DVLA/postal system picking up the completed delivery due to coronavirus. My licence expires in a few weeks.. I’m a teacher and need to get to school to care for key workers kids. Any advice much appreciated..

Royal Mail didn't always capture the signature at places like the DVLA because of the huge volume of signed for mail that they receive. Plus they aren't gathering signatures as such anywhere at the moment, due to Covid-19. If you don't get any kind of record from Royal Mail after 21 days you should apply for a refund.

The page explains how they are handling renewals during the pandemic. As a key worker you may be able to contact them, though like us they are probably very busy.

Thanks for your replies.
If DVLA aren’t capturing signatures even for batches is it possible the package was delivered but simply will never show as such on the post office tracking system? I’d assumed the PO themselves would mark the item as delivered even if it’s not signed for. All a bit confusing/stressful..

Any update on this? I’m in the same situation and Royal Mail can’t track my letter and DVLA can’t confirm if it’s been delivered.

Hello,
Is there any update?
I have been facing the same issue.
Sent as Signed for 1st Class. There is no sign and DVLA system shows as not received.
