The management organised a drinking session at a local inn.
Needless to say, everybody left sober.

The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

More people opening their doors than ever, before I've even knocked! We're supposed to be socially distancing!
PDA still acting up. Numerous times, get to the door, scan parcel, knock door, place on doorstep, step back 2m. Then the effin thing loops back to indoor/outdoor screen, by which time the customer has opened the door and I have to get close again to scan!

Have heard the same. The government will probably write to every address in the next week as well just as half the workforce has taken sick or are at home looking after the kids.twoloops wrote:I’m hearing tomorrow we are going to get battered, Dom been phoning round begging posties to come in early.

The bars and restaurants were closed on my duty today due to COVID-19. This meant no chance of stopping for a toilet break. Nowhere else to relieve oneself, so it was a matter of holding it in for the last hour before heading back to the office.
Wish I had an empty plastic bottle in the van to use. Kinda like poor old Ricky in the film Sorry We Missed You.

You know you're entitled to return to the office under such circumstances ? And it's not a "break"

I wasn't exactly busting to go. If that was the case, of course there'd be a trip back to the office... a 15 minute journey there and 15 minutes back to work. But because it was the last hour of my duty when nature was calling, I did the manly thing and finished the last loop of the day and waited until I returned to the office.Postie45 wrote:"so it was a matter of holding it in for the last hour before heading back to the office"

Now if this happened in the middle of the duty...

Delivering a parcel, rang the doorbell, stepped back the requisite 2 metres.
Woman opens door, dog runs out.
"Don't go near him he might have the virus!!"
She was talking to the dog, not me.
Wanted to shout "then stop ordering sh#te off the internet and don't let your bloody dog out". The dog was friendly but that's not the point,...
Not a great experience that. Don't really feel like we are an essential service and the behaviour of some customers doesn't help (minority at the moment but thinking it could change as the number of cases rise).

And if that woman cared about the health and well-being of her pet, she'd know that dogs can't catch the COVID-19 virus.bucks123 wrote:Woman opens door, dog runs out.

Can I catch COVID-19 from my pet?
While there has been one instance of a dog being infected in Hong Kong, to date, there is no evidence that a dog, cat or any pet can transmit COVID-19. COVID-19 is mainly spread through droplets produced when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or speaks. To protect yourself, clean your hands frequently and thoroughly.
WHO continues to monitor the latest research on this and other COVID-19 topics and will update as new findings are available.

Only had 2 customer's running after me down the street asking were their non-essential, non-tracked parcel was....(hair straighteners was one of them)...maybe essential when we're up and running again and your about to put on your glad rags and hit the town...but in these times?
....yesterday I had 4...so a 50% reduction in people not knowing where their priorities lie... an improvement at least.
I had to say staff levels are down due to Coronavirus, so maybe waiting longer for their parcels. Still a few blank looks and unhappy faces.
