Stage 2 and Covid19
So I'm on a stage 2 warning issued 20th Sept 2019 and not had any sickness since.
Had a cough for the last week and still been working, missus works in A&E and my toddler started with cough and fever yest so rang 111 and they advise we all self isolate for 7 days. Text my line manager last night and told him.
Will I trigger stage 3? Or is it managers discretion? Surely HR will have something in place for this? Not sure how many people in our office are off with it.

Been told by line manager I can have 10 days or two separate absences after a stage two so should be okay.
Don't really want to lose my job because of all of this virus malarkey.

If I was in charge or RM I would simply announce that no absences between 1/3 and 1/9 (or some such reference period) will be counted under the attendance procedure.
It would cost them nothing and be good PR.

please listen to the government advice. if its a new continuous cough please do not go into work. if you do you will infect your fellow co workers who will in turn infect potential people with underlying health problems. you will not lose your job during this outbreak. please be sensible.

Covid 19 related illnesses will be discounted from attendance procedure in almost all cases except where they are thought to be excessive or disingenuous in which case further investigation would be required prior to the attendance review

But if they are not testing for CV19 unless you are hospitalised then how do you know if your absence was due to that or something else?

I'm just watching the WHO news conference and they are saying TEST TEST TEST and find who they've come into contact with 2 days prior to symptoms developing. Our government haven't even bothered doing that ffsclashcityrocker wrote:But if they are not testing for CV19 unless you are hospitalised then how do you know if your absence was due to that or something else?

There are 3 problems with testing:
1.It costs money.
2. The true scale of the pandemic might cause further panic (buying). Far better to say there are 1500 cases and we are managing than have 15 000 cases and admit you have no idea what you are doing.
3. It will cost money.
I am in favour of selling Jacob Rees Mogg ('s house) to fund it.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
