Coronavirus and sick pay.

Thry have told the new guys at ours who have been in under a year that they will get sick pay if they have to have time off with this. Has anyone else heard this? I don’t trust it.

I imagine they'd just get SSP not full sick pay

Let's say you go off with a cough in a few weeks for 7 days but it turns out to be just a normal cold . What happens if you get the virus proper at a later date? Will they still be as generous?

those who have worked under a year, how does sick pay work? do u not get it at all? or do you get paid sick pay after a certain amount of days of being off sick?

I thought I remember reading that you get paid sick pay from the 4th day onwards? or have I just dreamt this?

That is normally the case but the govt has said everyone will be paid from day 1

but Royal Mail you get absolutely no sick pay if you have worked less than a year?

This is what I was getting at earlier norris, it’s not right that people don’t get the proper sickness benefits until 12 months especially with something like this. If they are not going to get full pay they will just turn in as normal and spread it around. It’s madness.

We hear Tom Hanks has it Nadine Dorries or whatever her name is has it....

It's starting to look like the government response isn't to stop everyone getting it but to manage when. Be prepared that you and most people you know will get this.Some of them will die. The economy must be protected. The economy is god. Sacrifice worker bees to protect the hive.

Seeing as the UK has seen what has been happening in Italy, surely the government have hired more staff or have volunteers lined up as well as selected hundreds of buildings around the country to use as make shift hospitals and bought more equipment to help the large number of vulnerable patients.

The UK government are notable in their complete inaction on this, to be brutally honest.

Vote for the Tories, you get the Tories... people shouldn't be surprised by this, that the economy comes before people's lives...

According to this Rmtv, new starters who worked for under one year will get sick pay.

The government is recommending “whole household isolation”. This should last for 14 days. Individual isolation should last for seven days, and another seven days is added to allow for other people being affected.
