Lapsing
We have daily lapsing attached to our walk, we have never taken it or been bullied into taking it, some take it & what’s left gets covered, some of you need to stick up for yourselves & create a bit of fear & distance with management

Locally it seems to be put leave reserves against any duty for that isn't covered (irrespective of skills needed - sometimes they may be put against a mech duty but are not mech trained), all other duties not covered just get lapsed (and then casuals get brought in)Steve_claret wrote:Lapsing is a management staffing decision. Not sure there is a policy for it but it is usually done with union agreement.Fasterth4nflash wrote:Does anyone have the policy on lapsing please

If they put non-mech trained staff on a mech duty then they are breaking every Health & Safety rule under the sun. More fool them if the said individual has an accident and gets their hand stuck in a roller, belt or any pinch point.SpacePhoenix wrote:Locally it seems to be put leave reserves against any duty for that isn't covered (irrespective of skills needed - sometimes they may be put against a mech duty but are not mech trained), all other duties not covered just get lapsed (and then casuals get brought in)Steve_claret wrote:Lapsing is a management staffing decision. The mech manager is the actual one who draws up the mech rota, sometimes mech trained staff get stolen from other sections. A few of the casuals are mech trained as well. The mehc manager ensures that only mech trained staff are on the machines, even if it means a machine not being coveredSteve_claret wrote:If they put non-mech trained staff on a mech duty then they are breaking every Health & Safety rule under the sun.
