Not best pleased with my union (CWU)- Captia

I am not best pleased with my union. I have been paying CWU subs for the best part of 43 years.
The union know and issued an LTB re Capita at the back end of 2019.
It is apparant from this forum that members and ex members are having problems getting their pension requests to time.
At present it may only be a trickle, but as more final salary pensioners retire this tale of woe with get far worse.
Our union need to be doing some thing about this and shouting loudly.
It matters not, what pension scheme they come up with, if we can't be paid to time.
No one at the end of their career in Royal Mail should be waiting 5 months to get their pension after a request.
I want to go in Dec 20. I have plans. I don't want to spend another Christmas working for Royal Mail, too many Christmas periods have been ruined because of it.
I want to do, what I want to do and not be forced to work over Christmas because my pension does not come through on time.
Yes I say this from a selfish point of view, but soon others will be affected by this.
So to the CWU, I have been a loyal member of the union and have paid my subs for decades, now represent me and others claiming their pensions.

they think its their money to do with as they please
only delaying to keep up interest in their balance sheet
if capita cant deliver your pension on time
you should be awarded payments and charges againt pension supplier
as if its the other way round they would have criteria to deduct from us

A very good post Stephen. I'm a few years off drawing my pension but am worried for my older colleagues. The lack of involvement from the CWU is alarming to say the least. People need to know what they are getting and when. I did previously mention somewhere on here that maybe people should band together and get their respective MPs involved. I am a member of the pressure group 38 degrees. Maybe they could be a great help. I will look into the possibility of involving them in a campaign regarding action against Capita, they are also failing to recruit enough soldiers for the British army, who are currently 7000 short of their target. Clearly something needs to be done. I am unsure at this moment WHO I should target within government to get a better result. Suggestions welcome.

The Royal Mail Pension scheme improved slightly on last year when it was ranked slowest, now ranking second slowest with an average turnaround of 13 weeks.

Portafina managing director, Jamie Smith-Thompson, stated: “Once again, local councils and the Royal Mail are propping up the bottom of the table and failing to provide a good service to their, and our clients. It seems pretty clear that they are comfortable with this situation and have no intention of changing anything unless they are made to by the regulators.

Furthermore, a Royal Mail spokesperson said: "We don't recognise these figures. Our own records show that all cases in 2018/19 and 2019/20 (year to date) have been completed within the statutory 13 week timescale. The typical response time is actually much shorter."

Royal Mail don't control Capita who operate the RMSP. I would love 13 weeks to be right, but Capita themselves, show on their website the process taking 17 weeks.
With a total service of around 43 years, I shouldn't be spending my next 10 months to retirement wondering if my plans will come to pass because of Capita.
Once again the Tory government are interfering with people's lives, seeking to save a little money outsourcing our pensions.
As for the CWU, where are my union, I have paid subs too for 43 years?
Locally, in my office, I have nothing but admiration, but nationally? I not not sure they give a fig.
