That'll be due to all the work and mistakes that have piled up today while I had the day off. Royal Mail desperately needs me back tomorrow.

Nope, we have early packet duties and dedicated packet drivers during the day.

At some point, surely there will be a significant uptake by the public to install a parcel bin. People really don't like having to go to collect their parcels. I see other delivery drivers doorstepping parcels right next to pathways for everyone to see, as well as that they are usually cardboard packages getting drenched through.

Maybe they need to come down in price first as these parcel bins are overpriced.

Royal Mail.... can you not sell and install these yourselves at a fair price and leaflet every household in the UK about them?.

Surely it's a worthwhile investment for anyone who is typically out the house and has 5 or more parcels delivered each year.

As with anything parcel bin theft will go through the roof like key less start cars in the night the thing is if you order stuff be in when it comes it is not that hard is it or are we to focused on triviality and titillation these days?

5.40 , I've been dreaming of it getting easier so I can get home at 5.40! Lol. ( A bit monty python, I know). Wed/Thurs been 6.30-7pm home for me.

That's just on my delivery, single rural. Doing all my packets. First ever 12hr day on delivery! It was heaving, it's not just packets either, never seen this amount of cards before and I've been here a while. Wonder if Rico will still say people don't send cards any more!

Can't believe the ammount of Posties finishing at "Silly O'clock"

What is the thinking/motivation behind these ridiculous finishing times? Is it because Posties feel obliged to "Deliver Christmas for their Customers" or are they being pressurised by Management to take out EVERYTHING?

Perhaps my Area doesn't get as much Mail, & Parcels, as some. I wouldn't like to suggest that my Office is Full of Concientous, Really Organised & Motivated Posties (we've got our fair share of shirkers & idiots), but we are cleared on a Daily Basis .... and no-one is really finishing at "Silly O'clock"

Is it mainily City Centres that are getting Stupid Ammounts of Mail?

We are a couple of FT Posties down due to Long Term Sick but we had some of these Agency Guys over the last few weeks and rightly, or wrongly, they have been helpful.

We've mainly used them as Partners on Singleton Van Duties, taking a couple of bags of mail on a LWT with just letters. That took a lot of pressure of the Regular Duty Holder who could concentrate on Larger Parcels (and basically the bulk of anything that needed scanning, or signing for .... as they didn't have any spare PDAs and had to write EVERY Bloody scan number down)

I must admit I could have done without the extra mental pressure .... Having to Re-Jig a Van Deliver so it could be delivered on foot ... Real "Old School" Numbering the Bundles and having to cut off to Re-Supply the Agency Guy when he ran out of mail etc ... and then the odd days when they didn't turn up and you had to revert to "Plan A"

At the end of the day we as Posties basically get an extra £200 plus whatever you get as Tips to "Deliver Christmas to our Customers"

It's not as if we get the £1000 Bonus Managers get

Is it REALLY worth exhausting yourself for the FEW days you get off at Christmas (don't forget we often return to work for that odd day over Christmas & New Year

) I've done it before and I don't intend to do it again .... ROYAL MAIL need to organise it better.

I'd just like to say "Have a Relaxing & Stress Free Merry Christmas to all those Hard Working Posties"! You've Deserved it .....(And Bollocks to the Runners & Scivers)
