Am I Reading This Wrong?

RM want to cut 20,000 jobs through the removal of large packets and tracked from D.O’s. They are also looking at the USO, which if they go to mythical Monday to Friday delivery’s ( or more realistically Monday, Wednesday , Thursday , Friday and Saturday ) would also result in a minimum of 20,000 job losses.
40,000 out of a workforce of 110,000, please tell me I’ve misread this.

The 110,000 are CWU members. The total workforce is circa 140,000 I believe.

To much speculation and not enough facts in this dispute so far .Royal Mail don’t seem to be playing the propaganda game this time round all the talk seems to be coming from the Cwu .

It will slash 20,000 jobs on current pay and T&C's.

They will be delivered by the new employees at the new parcel hubs, on minimum wage, zero hours ''self employed'' etc

Removing the sorting from the DO and increasing the automation along the pipeline will cut jobs.
People will still need to deliver them, you are correct, and it has been said approx 3000 jobs will be created in those offices currently operating as LAT hubs.

Yes RM very very quiet this time around. Could be worrying as it seems they are quite happy for us to strike! However CWU saying that RM are keeping quiet in the hope that people are disengaged from the conflict and won’t vote. This may well work as plenty in my DO seem oblivious to what’s going on or see it as the union just causing trouble!!

This is why its Important to get the SWW to 35 hours, Automation will inevitably remove hours from Prep at some point, Sure none of us want to be on 8 hour delivery walks. Asked our DOM in WTL today about the Second Hour coming off in October, Said straight up it wasnt going to happen, as the hour coming off last year had cost the Company £100 million ?????????? If we lost another 3 then we wouldnt be profitable. God knows where they get that from.

All he wanted to do was get us to sign for Liability for this new Over 25 ID packet product! Surely if we are in disagreement with RM , (which he's as good as admitted to) then we shouldnt be agreeing to any new processes or products???????
