I only had one Ring thing on my duty and I knew if the guy was in because he lived on his own; if his car wasn't there I just P739 the packet. Balls to ringing the Ring thing to be told to try the neighbours. It goes back to the post office.

Same as others, tried them a few times would never use them again. If someone has an issue with disability or something else then leave a note or talk to the postie about it, we're not monsters we also have high workloads and uncaring managers so can't wait 4-5 mins at every house that has a parcel.

I never press the Ring or Nest doorbells anymore. Too much time wasted trying to talk to some idiot over a bad phone line, with them telling me to try this neighbour then that neighbour. I knock on the door, then write out a docket if there's no answer. I'm fully aware that I'm being recorded the whole time, so at some point I'm sure I'll get a complaint from someone that I didn't press it, but I don't really care to be honest. If they're not in or can't hear me knocking it ain't my problem.

Be warned, some have motion detectors. Tried to avoid one last month and still had to have an awkward, faceless interaction with someone

Just looked up the RING website, looks like they've all got motion sensors built in so it must be down to if the person setting one up, enables the motion sensor

I was under the impression that all these types of doorbells acted like CCTV based on motion detection and/or from pressing the doorbell & that this was the initial reason for our objection to these 'hive based' devices. Probably advisable to follow RM rules precisely when standing outside a property with one of these fancy doorbells fitted.

Encountered many of these and their variants on different walks and never received an answer - they are incredibly gimmicky. I've never understood the logic of the advert shown on TV either (maybe that's down to working in the industry) but leaving a packet at a door still leaves it susceptible to theft. If that [theft] were to happen, then it's obvious the owner is going to deny culpability for instructing the courier to 'leave it at the door'.

I ring them all. Deliver to neighbours if that's what they want, then when I don't have enough time to complete I claim O/T and the next day I use it as ammunition as to not lapse/complete if it's a heavy day. When they eventually get round to using pda actuals they will have all the data to see I can't get anything added to my walk whilst others will be forced to take extra.

Got a few on mine, they are useless, 1 is definitely motion detected, they start talking before I even knock, and its inaudible.

Got a few and there's only one bloke who ever answers his. Always asks me to leave the parcel in a particular place and I'm happy to do so...customers direct request.

Of course if he asks me to leave at a neighbours then things suddenly go a bit Norman Collier

What happens is something goes wrong and they deny receiving it? I don't know if all footage from a RING doorbell gets saved to some server somewhere

I have a RING doorbell myself, users have to pay for a subscription for the “motion” and “doorbell footage” after the trail has expired. You can only view footage if you pay for the subscription which to be honest I don’t bother with and it’s a scam. You can use “LIVE VIEW” anytime which is FREE. They do give a “wide” angle view for the camera so just be careful on your rounds out there, people could be watching you for all you know!!
