Am I right in thinking we need to hold onto shares until 26th July to qualify for the next dividend?

think so. if you cash them in you wont get dividend. when is it due by the way? sometime about now?

Paid 4th September.

We should be getting the latest dividend of 17p per share on 4th September.
The ex-dividend date is 25th July and the record date is a day later.

SP's usually fall by around the amount of the divi once they go ex-divi.

A lot of people buy shares from various companies a little before the ex-dividend date then sell them immediately afterwards. I think they can even set automated instructions to do this online. This is usually results in drops in the share after the ex-dividend date has past.
One of the financial websites was recommending RM shares as a long term buy the other day so maybe the future is looking a little brighter.

The RM share price nearly touched 230p just before the date then freefalled to 208p and appears to be continuing to fall.

The dividend was 17p per share - so ex-dividend day, the share price falls (in theory) by 17p anyway......

Boris really isn't going to make any SP rise. Him and his buddy's ( who incidentally will be just fine, financially when he crashes us out of Europe with no deal, getting 50k a week for a newspaper column) are going to send the UK into recession.
He's trying to be trump, but he ain't running the USA , he's running little old Britain. Trump's recent beef deal with the EU is like putting two fingers up to the UK. People think we're going to have special deals for our special relationship? Think again. We will be out on a limb on our own , but hey that's what 'the country' wanted, right ? That so annoys me, a tiny majority. We should be having another say . He's messing with ordinary folks lives for his own gain and ego.

It was still a majority vote to leave simple as that. It's the same as I don't want Scotland to become independent but I know that's all the snp are obsessed over. And they were beaten and just like the remainers. We will be ok ourselfs, ok a bit rocky for a year or two but have a bit more faith in your country.
