When are pension increases notified?
Section C member in retirement now coming up for a full year now.
I believe my pension increases by (if I am correct) of the value of September's RPI figure 3.3% - am I correct in assuming that this 3.3% applies to the whole pension amount (inc the pension supplement)?
For anyone who has been in receipt of a RM pension for more than one year, do we ever get any kind of confirmation as to the new yearly pension amount? Or do we just have to wait until the first pension payments go into our accounts (last day of the month i.e April 30th 2019) to know for sure?
It is important for me to know as early as possible so that HMRC can allocate correct tax codes for the next tax year. When I looked at my tax account (for 2019-2020 tax year) they have assumed that the amounts I get from my pensions are replicated from this current tax year. I have updated them with what I assume I shall get and tax codings will change slightly to reduce income tax to £0. It would be nice to get it right before the start of this next tax year in April 2019.
Tax-wise this year has been somewhat complicated but having a HMRC account has enabled me to minimize the pain of sorting out a number of different incomes for my first year in retirement. Now I am hoping that 2019-2020 will become much less complicated (5 sources of income (3 pension + 2 income) -> 3 sources, all pension). And knowing what I get from RM sooner rather than later will be useful.

When are pension increases notified?
I have no personal experience of this, but there is some info on the RMPP website which might help.
Look under 'your pension' here and 'your pension payments and increases' here.

I too am waiting for my first full increase.. Got my NRA60 pension in January last year and the RPI of 3.9% turned into about 1% prorata. Still not sure how the GMP part of my pension 1988-1997 gets revalued. As they say up to 3% once you reach 65. Given the issues with Capita I wonder how they will cope with all those pensions needing to be increased! And their track record sending letters out, let alone on time is not good!

According to the Capita utter farce thread, they're not going to send those letters out at all.

Forgot about Capita's role in all of thisRobertT wrote:According to tCapita utter farce thread, they're not going to send those letters out at all.
What's the betting that the IT guy cannot put in the 1.033 multiplying factor for the April pensions run?

Got a reply from an email I sent to Capita last week regarding the PI notifications. Encouragingly they state

I shall be hovering near my letter box in eager anticipationI can confirm to you that we will be sending out letters confirming the annual Pension Increase and these are currently being processed, once this has been processed it will be sent directly to you.

Got my letter relating to RMPP pension for next year from Sheffield (well done to them) in which they state "Capita are sending a separate letter summarising the review of your RMSPS benefits". We shall see what is delivered to my door in the coming days!

Got my letter as well for the increase for the 2 years of CARE for the NRA60 pension. And hope the Capita letter follows shortly!BeamishStout wrote:Got my letter relating to RMPP pension for next year from Sheffield (well done to them) in which they state "Capita are sending a separate letter summarising the review of your RMSPS benefits". Still a bit puzzled that when the Goverment took over the pension up to 2012, I would have assumed the first 4 years of CARE from 2009 to 2012 would have been handled by Capita as well.

Got my PI notification from Capita re RMSPS. Both this pension and the RMPP details were in line with RPI increases in September 2018.
