We have lapsed a few times since Xmas day due to other offices either being short staffed due to the rubbish HR department and ' sick club ' . I don't actually have time to lapse on my walk and the bit of extra delivery I get allocated has customers that order parcels but are never in. So more unpaid overtime in the world turned upside down that is RM.

Seven D2D leaflets this week although thankfully there are no thick or bulky ones. Still takes longer to prep them though.

Unpaid overtime or work generally is a big problem across the whole of the UK and is not specific to RM. It often comes from staff leaving and not being replaced but existing staff being expected to complete the additional work within their work time. I think the UK total figure for unpaid work in 2017 was thirteen billion pounds or something like that.
Unpaid overtime in RM usually derives from doing the job on a different timescale to what RM prescribes to enable getting home earlier or on time for other commitments. If we could clock in and out and get paid for the time worked this would solve the problem.

Yesterday(14/01/19)was incredibly light on mail, particularly on letters & flats for a Monday. I had more addresses than usual with no mail at all.

What an odd day, took me 50 mins to do the 3 loops and bulk on the first delivery of our shared duty....and nearly 3 hrs to do the second!

Better than yesterday! Yesterday got attacked by a psychotic beagle called Nigel!

Who calls a dog Nigel????

It launched a surprise attack out of the side of a parked van!

Didn't know it was in there! Thought he'd been shouting at his mate called Nigel.

Walked past said morning 2 the builders who's van it was & psycho beagle launched outta van & savaged my bag!

WTF do they make post bags out of? Cats?? Coz that beagle had a real issue with it!

We had the National Trust magazines on Thursday and Friday. I think more people have subscribed to the NT since last year.
