Couple of guys in my office booked over 60 hours overtime last week, all that happens is an email from HR

The total number of hours you can work in a week is 69.
In past years the business has relaxed that for the xmas pressure but I don't believe they did this year.
In my DO it is impossible to be paid any more than that. Either some hours will be rolled over onto the next week or you would lose it.

How can you realistically work more than that and remain within the confines of the Working Time Regulations?

We NORMALLY only have a firms driver who MIGHT take an oversized parcel off the HCT duties if they're lucky.

Over Xmas we have have several packet duties who save the day for us poor overworked put upon posties.

We would be failing a lot of duties on a regular basis if if weren't for them.

Loads and loads of Christmas cards, which was kinda nice. A lot of houses getting half a dozen or so, the most being a baker's dozen for one house.

Made me feel a bit christmassy, handing people cards on their path and seeing their joy. Until the miserable old sod at one address came down the path with his hand extended.

"More s**t I suppose?"

"No, actually, it's all Christmas cards today."

"That's what I said, more s**t."

There's always one, eh?

A lot of xmas cards through this week, many of them probably going manual as there's no chance in hell of sequencing them on wave 2 with just 20mins allowed per batch on wave 2

There were a lot more Xmas cards in the second lot of sequenced mech trays we received today than we would get in previous years. Downside was we had to wait a while for it to arrive so we got out on delivery about an hour later. Finished at 1600 today - busiest day so far I think this Xmas.

We been told to make sure all tracked have been delivered/attempted. So been throwing all of none tracked that won't post out and also been bringing back loops all week. Best part is management haven't moaned once about the loops. They just leave us too it as long we don't bring the part back two days on the bounce. Went over 30 mins today and managed to clear.

Today for me I think was the busiest so far. Parcels falling off the frame onto my head. I had to cut off in the end.

So many trays of mail! Lots of Christmas cards.

I wonder how tomorrow will be and what next week brings for us?

I come off my route after Xmas and start doing random routes as a reserve. I haven't done it before so should be a little stressy!

I'm at a smallish office and we've got 8 yorks of divert mail (all full of trays of Xmas cards) that they are trying to get people to sort on overtime. If it's the same up and down the country there's going to be lots of cards either next week or after Christmas. They are obviously prioritising parcels at our mail centre and hoping delivery staff will bail them out sorting cards. Most of it will be sent back the same as it came unless they can get people in on Sunday doing it.

Busy today, tonnes of parcels, mail/cards not actually that bad. Still, a round that takes me 3.5 hrs to deliver on a heavy Wednesday, took me well over 5 hrs today.

Quietest day for Special Deliveries all week - we only had the 32 today :chuckle This Christmas hasn't half dragged on and there's still over a week to go.

Tracked will probably drop off towards the end of next week and specials will go through the roof
