Lightest Xmas Tuesday I can recall... Tomorrow is the Wednesday from hell, worse than the last few, I reckon.

its as much "hell" as you want it to be. If you pressure yourself to complete an unreasonable workload in duty time, yes that will be hell.IloveMYredTROLLEY! wrote:Lightest Xmas Tuesday I can recall... Tomorrow is the Wednesday from hell, worse than the last few, I reckon.

Ohhh i hope that is the worst of it but I fear it isn't. I don't want to get my hopes up! I have a stinking cold and am currently dragging my feet up and down those basement stairs with a toilet roll attached to my HCT! I don't have much speed in me... if the parcels go up tomorrow I won't be very speedy..

There are going to be a lot of Xmas cards coming through the system from tomorrow onwards. Apparently the volumes of parcels coming through from Black Friday & Cyber Monday were high and matched what RM predicted would arrive. I think the flow of parcels will be steadier this year as, touchwood, we won't have the snow to disrupt us. We usually get a few b****** days in the lead up to Xmas so I would be surprised if we don't get those at some point.scoobymunster wrote:Do you think is that the "worst" of it over with then? obviously SDs will increase the closer we get to Christmas though.SpacePhoenix wrote:Definitely quieter compared with last couple of years. Plenty of them going to the manual selections on the machines last night. Square shaped ones a a PITA as they have a habit of spinning around as they go through the machineCelgar wrote:There are going to be a lot of Xmas cards coming through the system from tomorrow onwards.

Those cards not much bigger than present labels are a pain. Keep slipping out of my bundles

Finished at a decent time for a Wednesday on the run up to Xmas for a change. Parcel duties have taken a lot of weight and aggro from us. God bless them, every one.

Seriously? Is the difference in volume of parcels so different across the country? We had 3 parcel drivers for our section today and at 3pm the managers were begging us to go out after delivery to deliver some that hadn't been done. Must have been about 200 that'd hadn't been touched! One delivery threw out 4 yorkies of oversized aloneArthurPewty wrote:Amen to that Sir Henry! Pretty steady for a Wednesday. I was coughing and spluttering all over my frame, Ive probably passed my cold onto all my customers whoops. I had a couple of bags dropped out to me but I got back 10 mins past the finish time and pretty much everyone else was already back. Not the madness I was expecting.
They cancelled me coming in earlier on overtime all this week which makes me think they are not expecting the predicted volume.
Not great for my bank but hey.
I spoke to a Hermes Driver, Parcel Force and Yodel, all said they were much quieter than usual so it's across the board. Lets see what tomorrow brings!

Can I get a transfer. Most van shares and rurals were 1-3 hrs over today. In fact most van shares couldn't get everything in the van so had to leave packets behind, which most were still there when I finished at 5.15. just shows ya how equal this business is.Wakewaterblue wrote:Pretty steady for a Wednesday. Today was the first day since Black Friday/Cyber Monday when the back of my van was nearly full up to the roof. The MC was short-staffed or something so not many cards and letters got through apart from the sequenced mech. Sounds like those letters and cards along with everything else will arrive tomorrow.
