New start - foot injury due to no footwear provided

Hi,
I started with RM about 2 months ago and put in my uniform order within the first week. I'm still waiting for it to arrive, which I hear is not uncommon.
I have ruptured tendons in my toe/foot and am unable to put any weight on it so can't work. I've been to my GP and minor injuries unit at the hospital and both of them have put the injury down to inadequate footwear and given a 3-4 week recovery period.
In the meantime, I'm not going to be getting paid while I have to be off work. According to the info given my 2 medical professionals, the injury is effectively RM's fault/responsibility, but the consequence is that I'm losing out on pay.
Is there anything I can do? Anyone I should talk to?

if you are in the Union go and see your H&S rep, they may be able to use the Unions solicitors to help.

Failing that Citizens advice may be able to help.
