Oh no I'm sorry to hear that. There is nothing worse when it rains on top of the heaviest day ever. It just makes everything that more difficult and slow.
I was surprised with my frame today. LOADS of letters, but not a mental amount of parcels. It was only 1 bag worse than a usual heavy Wednesday. It's either gonna kick off next week or people have done their xmas shopping already. I am praying anyway. That is just me being hopeful.
If you think about it there are not that many days in December before xmas really?

Bad day today put out three bags for delivery to me later on in the walk, had a full htc with a bag hanging off the front. Lots of people not in, gave a two bags of parcels back to the driver and still came back with another bag and a half of parcels.

Partnered with the office idiot today, you know the guy who makes doing the job a real chore Yes I appreciate that they have to be somewhere at a given time but it's not my problem if I am not going at a pace that enables this.

That was challenging.

Evidently head office sent email to our Lino's today saying it's gonna dakker off next week! By the amount of mail in my one collection box today, don't think so. Packets are just silly ATM. Only 2 more weeks of mayhem left.

It was weird today, quieter than a normal Monday. And Mondays in December always used to be horrendous. I think because of black Friday and mayhem other years lots have ordered early explains how busy November was and people just don't send the same number of cards anymore. The cards have picked up a bit but when I started youd have 3 or 4 layers of em on your frame everydayclashcityrocker wrote:Dawdled about. Finished an hour early.

Our DOM says volumes are down for the past week and I think I agree. I was off sick for a week and a half over the Black Friday/Cyber Monday period so I don't know how busy it was then. I get the impression it was very busy then with a lot of tracked items. The roads were gridlocked at our local main shopping town on Sunday so maybe more people are worried about more shop chains going bust and are switching back to the shops. Alternatively there is a backlog with the likes of Amazon or more parcels business has chosen other courier companies based on cost vs our better service. Stamps are not cheap now which is largely out of RMs control so maybe people are sending less cards or doing those e-card things.clashcityrocker wrote:Dawdled about. Finished an hour early.

I'm still busier than usual on my walk but the van isn't full to the top of the roof like last year. We were told today that the MCs have learnt from the mess that was last year's Xmas and are more organised so maybe that has had an effect in managing flow. I guess we will be told after Xmas as to how well or not RM has done over Christmas not that I completely trust anything they say or put out.

Some walks in my office were very light today, I got finished 15mins early but some were done over 2hrs early (or so I was told).
.
.
And they therefore ghosted all the afternoon O/T sorting I was hoping to do!!
.
.
But on the other hand it is nice to go home on time once in a while.

Definitely quieter compared with last couple of years. Don't know if we've more Xmas casuals than the last couple of years but we've made time virtually every day for the last couple of weeksCelgar wrote:Our DOM says volumes are down for the past week and I think I agree.
