I know its not directly pension related but Ive seen a few pre retirement courses around many of which are run by unions.
I just wondered if anybody had ever been on one.
Thanks

No. Royal Mail used to do a one day course prior to retirement many years ago.

Seems a decent idea, but how individual are they likely to be? Are they just going to provide generic info that you can get quite easily from the internet or by using your common sense?

I think its a good idea to explain your pension rights, tax implications, 25% lump sum, applying for extra help from the DSS and Post Office funds if any, post retirement clubs even post office ones.
There's quite a bit to learn I think and while i have learned a lot from this forum, I'm sure there is still more to pick up.

Anybody leaving the business can find a lot of information out there. But a lot of people still have not caught up with computers, e-mail and the like. If anybody wants information on DWP , send in a post and I should be able to answer.
