how’s that? Are You kidding? Being out on a delivery and booking 10 hours not really ideal for their books is it. He couldn’t say anything as I got stiched up with loads of mail from previous days left in frame.

Saturday: staff were told that Monday was a holiday and the DO was closed.
I then came back from my round to find out Tuesday was my day off.
A wee bit of notice would have been nice for a three day break.
Also, observing the 1 in 6 Saturday off has been bypassed once again as my day off the week before was Friday. Sneaky eh?

Went in, prepped some mail, banded it up, delivered it, went home. Just to prove that sometimes everything is ok. :thumbup :thumbup

So Heaven knows you are miserable now?

So I've been a postie for coming up to 5 months now and yesterday I failed to scan a tracked package for the first time. Manager came up to me today and told me I have a cross against my name yet she seemed to have a list of people in her hand who had done the same. Are there any repercussions for a first time offender?!

In the big scheme of things such as trashed wagons, specials posted without signature, mail bundles left on customers dustbins because you haven't
got enough hands, PDA's temporarily 'misplaced', PDA's smashed - the list is endless without any of the posties I know who have been involved
having any serious action taken apart from 'Don't do it again' - I wouldn't worry about it.

She'll have a list as long as her arm come Xmas time........

Without a doubt, the volume of mail has really increased this week. It's also been super heavy what with all the Smyths catalogues etc. Does management acknowledge this? Of course not!! Quite a shock for this newbie. My fitbit says I am doing between 3000 and 4000 more steps than before - so my run is at least 15km each day. IS that a lot? I am unable to complete by 1pm. It is impossible. I rushed today, did my best, but was still over by 1hr 35mins. Boss has refused to honour the overtime.
So it looks like I either work for free or am taken to task on "performance issues". He is trying to suspend a postie at another office for cutting off, citing "willful delay of mail". The man is a real snake. Assumes the worst in everyone. It's disgusting.
So as far as I can see it's catch22 for me and I am sick of it. This is my seventh week in the job. Boss has offered no support, no work coach and no training.
Also, RM has swindled me out of over 8hrs overtime. How does management get away with bullying practices like this?
Am considering leaving now. It is a horrible place to work.

Join the union if you haven't and get your rep involved. Make sure you have all your figures for overtime noted and up to date. Call the grievance hotline and put a grievance in. Your manager is just another bully who thinks he can get away with what he likes. This is 100% bullying and harassment. On another note, yes the workload is increasing in my DO, today was as heavy as it normally is on a Wednesday and already the number of parcels and packets is getting larger. The amount of IPS is getting stupid now, never seen so many catalogues, and stupid cards, the cards make it worse as you have to go to a house with no mail apart from these stupid little cards in your hand.
