I think you should ring customer services on 08457 740 740, if it was valuable you should of really of sent it as a signed for item, unfortunately things do go missing, they get chewed up by the machinery or get stuck in the bottom of a sack, it is very rare that things get stolen, customer services will be best to advise you.
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet

Did you send it by special delivery? If yes you should have the reference number,go online to R/M website and use track and trace system, same if you sent it Recorded delivery. If you sent it by normal post then different story, get in contact with the delivery office where its going and find out if they have a backlog, give as much info as possible, maybe they tried to deliver it and left a while you were out card and are holding it at the callers office. Its impossible to keep tabs on mail unless its one of the above but it should have got or attempted to be delivered by now.Other then that its a case of fingers crossed and hope for the best im afraid and when sending valuables in the post Always use SPECIAL DELIVERY its guaranteed next day and has compensation payouts if lost.

If it's a packet then we are about 3-4 weeks behind.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Oh nooo :(
Im phoning them up tomorrow. I got my postman to get me a certificate of postage if that helps. He set the date back on his stamp.
But this is just getting ridiculous! Its been 3 weeks! I seriously HATE the person responsible for it being so late, whether it be the manager or whatever. Omg.

Management only just offering overtime last Friday to help clear the work, trouble is the backlog will now be massive and will take a long time to clear, the posties can physically only do so much in a day.Im sure your letter will turn up soon

I sure hope so. Its not there yet though.
I've completed a compensation form but even if it gets there before my letter actually arrives (if it ever does) i doubt i'll get nearly enough compensation for what its worth. They should really give you more compensation if you've waited so bloody long, rather than less. Jesus.

Compensation
Compensation for delay
Domestic Mail (Introduced January 2004):
This scheme only applies to 1st and 2nd Class stamped or metered mail, standard Retail Parcels and Special Delivery. Either the posting customer or the receiving customer can claim, but not both.
The compensation rates are: 12 1st class stamps for delay (5 days for 1st Class, 7 days for 2nd Class and Standard Retail Parcels)
Royal Mail has introduced payments of ?5 on the production of further written evidence and ?10 if a delay of more than 10 days occurs.
To claim a book of stamps customers will be asked a series of questions over the 'phone and not required to provide any further information. If customers wish to claim ?5 or ?10 rather than a book of stamps, customers will be asked to send the packaging of the delayed item with a written statement detailing the incident and the loss incurred. Customers may be asked to sign a statement acknowledging that making a false claim could lead to prosecution.
Compensation will also be available for delayed Special Delivery items (?5 if it does not arrive on the next day, ?10 if it arrives 8 days or more late). Since this product is fully tracked and traced customers should be able to prove delay more easily.
Compensation for loss and damage
Royal Mail has established a voluntary scheme to provide customers with some form of redress should their mail be lost or damaged. Customers may be entitled to either:
* 12 x 1st class stamps; or
* if there was something of value in the mail, a refund of the market value of that item up to 100 X the cost of a 1st class stamp.
To qualify for compensation, customers must have adhered to Royal Mail's terms and conditions. For loss, this means that customers must have obtained a Certificate of Posting ? a receipt that provides proof of posting that is available free of charge from Post Offices. For damage, customers must be able to provide the envelope or packaging should Royal Mail request it.
Customers should note, however, that Royal Mail will not accept claims for damage to the following items:
# Ceramics, including ornamental and decorative china or porcelain
# High value items, e.g. banknotes, cheques and coins, tickets, vouchers
Postwatch advises that the Special Delivery services is used to send these items.
