I stared in the post office in 1970 it was a fantastic place to work
every postman took a pride in his job.
Now well what can i say just look around at all the smiling faces in your
office,this is what bad management does to a what used to be fantastic job

we all know that change will happen but there are a few things that must always be adhered to.
A manager has to manage that is what manager means!
So why is it that when i tell my line manager that i wont be able to complete my delivery i am looked as a trouble maker!
You ask for the materials and the dont get them for you straight away,they say they are busy yeh ok from 0600 till 0615 they drink tea and talk about football then from 0900 till there finishing time they have breakfast and then wonder thr office pretending to do something and when the dom is off on monday the go on the internet playing games, what a joke off a place.
in the good old days everyone who worked there would buy diesel cars i wonder why so that they can fill the cars up.oh i even heard a big manager that he would open parcels that contained alcohol and drink it on duty,hahaha .
then they take you down the conduct code.
i have so much to tell you guys but it is probably going to not suprise you!
to all of you that might think and i have heard this alot in my office ,its too late.
it's never too late old phrases never lie!
take care to you all and remember that no matter how wonderful it might seem that you make an hour and get home earlier later on you will be doing extra and finishes the same time to the guy who comes in on time and has his meal relief.
don't be stupid fodder for theses managers and do your job,god bless,think of your families!

Dear Sir/Madam,
With all respect to Yourself.
I have always worked hard for MY money because I have Worked HARD.
oh by the way do you know where i shop?Asda the cheapest foods i can find.
i don't feel ashamed to say this.i shop there because i have to be careful how i spend MY money.
i am not well fed ,if i was i would not be buy value brands.
i am not priveledged to be a public service worker i may have six weeks off a year but thats because the reduce money from my wages to have two weeks off extra oh and that one week off after five weeks worked .i get a week off because i have worked an extra one hour everyday for five weeks.
please i am not looking for arguments .
i will not make anymore comments on this issue..

I am a council worker in Birmingham, who understands that the trouble we are facing now over the new contracts the management/city council are trying to impose on us is similar to the crap that you posties are facing.
is there anyone at this site from birmingham?
I don't mind getting down to Newtown to helpwith giving out the "vote no!" leaflet,
and i should be able to help with organising anything like an organisation for rank-and-file CWU members.

some of us Trade Unionists here have started to organise (through the Trades Council) a conference of all public sector Trade Unoinists, to plan our resistance to the government's attacks on us all and our services; this was started before the CWU leaders signed up to that rubbish deal, and before the strike of local government (council) workers was ruled out of order
(in our ballot, there was a majority for strike but our (UNISON) leaders said "no strikes")

also, my dad was a postman, in the 70's but i never got past the interview!!

If you still fancied it try again the interview is not as arduous now.

Although I am not from Birmingham I have read of the attempts to re-issue contracts which you would have to sign or lose your jobs - it is frightening to think that this is a Labour Government and we are public servants - sod knows what it would be like back with the Torys.

Hiya, doyourjob! hey, we most of us work hard - i certainly do, and have got the grudging respect of my manager
(all the disabled people love me, and will do things for me that they won't for the other workers; am NEVER late,
etc but that's beside the point. I spend a lot of time defending co-workers who 'aren't quite up to the job': that is, everyone has a right to a decent job with decent pay (to pay your f.in bills! then try & have some kind of LIFE!)
and actually i doubt the posties HAVE anymore such a good job - up ludicrously early; loads to do, lots of pressure:
perhaps out in all weathers, using your own car & petrol...... etc etc you must know
and the 'deal' they are proposing (RM management and unfortunately the cwu 'leadership') will just make that work situation just much worse
so it is a matter of opposing the deal that's on offer!

as far as i can see, it also has to be a matter of creating a leadership that actually fights for our interests -
clearly, Hayes, Ward and the other gits (i don't necessarily mean those 5 that voted against) TOTALLY FAIL to act in the interests of cwu members
but that's meant to be what they are there for!

I understand (from my delivery man) that Ward was elected last year on a rather militant programme:-
what crap! i remember what i wanted to write: that 'my own' TU leader. Dave Prentis of UNISON, took home Â£87,659
in wages last year - how can he represent me, on 12,400?! what rubbish! i'm having ANOTHER DRINK!
