The obvious place for info on the RMPP is the library section of the pensions website, and use the information from there alongside the figures from your most recent annual statement.

You can also contact the pensions service centre, but you can't normally get a pension quote more than about 3 months before your 55th birthday.

Or you have these forums!

What they are after is some actual idea of approx what they might get.

I will suggest they phone pension but just wondered if there was any other way to work it out from pension statements etc.

When people from my office have retired, their pension has been a little higher than their last statement has shown. However, that wont apply if the pension is being taken early, due to the reductions for early payments.

Working out roughly what you'll get based on the figures on your annual statement is a subject that's been covered many times on these forums.

They don't really make it easy because the figures they give you are your final salary(upto 2008) and your CSDB(from 2008 to 2017), rather than NRA60(upto 2010) and NRA65(2010-2017).

So here's a quick way of getting a ballpark figure for a section C member based on your most recent statement, dated 31 March 2017:

Total pension earned to 31/3/2017 – final salary pension at 31/3/17 = total CSDB pension earned between 2008 & 2017.

Divide the above answer by 9 to give a yearly average of CSDB pension earned between 2008 & 2017. Then add 2 years worth to the final salary figure to give your NRA60 amount. What's left is your NRA65 amount.

Then simply take off 5% for each year you want to take each pension before NRA.

There's been threads on here concerning how the supplement is treated when taking your pension early, and to be honest I'm not too sure how it's calculated. But I suggest you use the same maths as above.

Don't expect the figures to be 100% accurate but they should be in the right ballpark!

Now I have got my NRA60 pension I am interested in how it is broken down. My final salary part is slightly less than the last quote given in March 2017 but the two years worth of CARE is larger than I had calculated for. I had assumed that everyones 2 years worth of CARE to 2010 would be the same for everyone based on two years. But perhaps it too depends some what of your actual overall service? I had done 30 years and another colleage who has done 15 years has a far smaller CARE part of his pension. I haven't bothered asking the Pension Centre because getting any straightforward answers is like getting blood from a stone but worse!!

Part of the difference between your pension, and that of your colleague will be down to the pension you are in. You are a section B member, they are section C. As less of a section C members pay is pensionable, it accrues at a lower rate. Most pension scheme members are now section C. We got shafted when the (now section B) members voted the changes for future members through, as it didn't affect them and they didn't give a toss about their future colleagues.

I am a section b member and you are talking rubbish it was the union who did not fight the pension issue

The members were the ones who voted it through. Not the union. It should have been rejected at that point.
