BUT if you run round etc and finish say 1 hour before your time YOU will kop for more work off the posties that go over , its not rocket science .
No you won't.
You'll kop for more indoor work so that in theory you'll leave the office later. Bob on the big duty will still have the big duty but he'll be encouraged to leave the office earlier so that he doesn't go over.

Anybody who thinks that PDA outputs and AHDC wil lead to some kind of warm and fuzzy world of equal duties is delusional. There are far too many legitimate variances in performance to start lopping bits off one duty and sticking them on another. Every day would be a confrontational nightmare, it really would be like rocket science. The data will be used to drive/optimise (in reality cut) the indoor workload not the outdoor.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

Exactly, the arguments would be never ending about why should someone who's quicker using the correct methods have to do the work of somebody who is also using the correct methods but just works slower? Some of the latest finishers in my office have the easiest rounds so why should they have stuff taken off them?

Totally agree mate , people need to the job to spec
and it would be about time everybody did , as the company seem to be able to throw millions of £s around to the top knobs like confetti ,
Whilst I agree with the sentiment, part of this says that the trial will be rolled out once it's proven it has no adverse affect on the completion of work. So if the trial offices start failing miserably and costing more money will they be in a hurry to roll it out everywhere? If they aren't going to save money i can't see them rushing it out, it might work in mail centres but I can only see it causing havoc in delivery offices and costing more money to deliver the same amount of mail. In fact without spending more money I don't see how they will clear offices
It's probably got more chance of working in DOs than in MCs. In a MC you can often be moved around different sections in any given shift
This is about signing in and out of the office. Do many people at MC start work an hour before their time and start work for free or work over and not claim overtime ? It's like clocking into a factory so it would work at mail centres , it says it's not for monitoring what your doing inside the building so what your doing in there doesn't matter
Won't work in any MC where you have to enter the processing area to reach your locker. It would have to be something that sits above a doorway, otherwise it'll get in the way
They are small devices that can be placed anywhere. No chance of them blocking gangways, entrances, & exits.

We currently have a couple of walks that are significantly longer so Postie's on those walks don't have to do IPS. In reality we often end up doing it anyway so the problem hasn't really been fixed. The current computer system to design walk routes isn't very accurate but the new system will supposedly be better.
The PDA/AHDC timing system can't be used to move work from one postie or walk to another one. That could be seen as victimisation and the agreement doesn't allow it anyway. What will happen is that the hours that are deemed not being worked will be added up and then collectively removed from the office budget. This will likely result in more walk/s being lost and the walks being redesigned to incorporate those roads.

deliveries are a farce you get some people running doing it in 3 and half hours then another taking 5 hours so who is right and wrong, we had 20 hour guy last week running on ft delivery coming in 1 hour early and saying duty is easy because he was finishing by 1230 every day! I come in on time take 20 min break and work my time and claim if late ,yet others who are ot are not claiming and running whilst I am on holiday! Dom then complains my partner and me are too slow! But the complaints when I am off shots up, so much for world class quality as he just wants to save money , can see this going tits up on delivery but it’s about time people stopped running and use trolley and not carry bags

How would i know who does on the other shifts?
Ok in all the years youve worked in a mailcentre how many people have you seen working for free? Ive worked in a mailcentre and delivery office and see it everyday in deliveries but never once saw anyone do it in a mailcentre and i can guess its the same everywhere
in my mail centre people work over for a least 10 to 15 minutes every day at end of shift, been happening for years, wouldn't clear otherwise, needless to say i never do

Do they get paid for it? In deliveries people are starting an hour or more early every day without pay, if this new technology means they won't be doing it anymore there will be alot of stressed managers.

I wouldn't be surprised if it gets turned off after a few days and never turned on again

Will it stop staff coming in early and working before their time unpaid ?? If not, then what are Royal Mail going to do with all this information? Surely they must know that one of the main reasons why Royal Mail have made so much profit and do better than expected is because of all the extra hours that some staff are doing week in, week out unpaid just so that they can finish before their time.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

I really don't think the people at the very top know the extent that job and finish and ghost overtime runs through the heart of the delivery operation. It's been allowed to exist for decades and to eradicate it is going to be a very painful experience for RM and some of it's staff
