All the trials have to take place and RM have to decide if they are workable. If they are then RM will have to ask the CWU for the go ahead to continue. If all the trials are not successfully implemented the SWW won't be implemented.donut wrote:The PEC will decide to endorse ???...........is there an agreement or not ? , RM have implemented the new Pension deductions from my wages this week ?dingo wrote:My understanding is that over the next week the PEC will decide on whether they endorse the National Roll out of PDA outdoor actuals as a resourcing/planning tool. Who is going to have control of these PDA outdoor actuals?dingo wrote: The DOM will get on their dashboard computer link the offices PDA results for the day before. Now I believe that will be game changing and personally I believe the union gave it away to cheaply and I have said as much to the CWU negotiators. If you don’t think this is significant than fair enough.
If it is the DOM - then we have handed them the biggest stick to beat those they don't like while they will turn a blind eye to the finishing times of those they do like, that "do them favours."
Or will it be someone up above them who will simply look at the figures and issue instructions?
What happens if they flood the indoor with extra hours meaning people are out earlier and thus finish earlier?
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

The PDA actual isn't going to show (unless how we uses it changes)...
Who started doing work before their contract hours and whether they were unpaid
Who arrived on Monday morning with all their D2D nested for the whole week, that they did at home over the weekend
Who came in on agreed early overtime to do IPS/parcels, but before that overtime period had ended, they had sneaked back to their duty frame to get a head start on their duty prep
Who went off for unofficial smoke breaks
Who took any of their paid meal relief entitlement before starting delivery
Who isn't using the LWT/HCT, carrying bags on their shoulders at all times
Who is carrying overweight bags (>5Kg) on their shoulders, even on loop including blocks of flats, where carrying bags is permitted
Who is flicking through their bundle, getting mail for the next address while heading towards it, saving precious seconds per drop but not following SSOW and risking a fall
If the "passenger" is stationary for 5+ minutes per loop because they are using some of their meal relief, or simply that their "driver" is taking more time to finish a loop
Passenger/driver tidying the back of the van after doing a few loops (because we leave the depot with them rammed full) for a few minutes, rather than using some of their meal relief
Who has completed their whole working day without taking all their paid meal relief
etc.
If an OPG isn't finishing 60+ minutes before their contract time by carrying a pouch instead of using LWT/HCT; grabbing mail for next address while on the move and not taking their meal relief; the duty's overall workload is likely too big... But the PDA will simply say OPG is on their way home before their contract hours time. And then what happens when the OPG gets told their duty size is increased, but they then start cutting off everyday, doing the job more correctly?
IMO this is a giant leap into murky waters that the CWU agreed to far too cheaply, there should have been a phase of actually making OPGs do the job correctly via enforcement by DOM/linos... Which almost certainly means re-writing the way their bonus related pay is calculated. Because for years, managers have turned a blind eye, because they know full well that if the job was done correctly their depot figures would be a laughing stock with the amount of overtime that would be required; leading to bigger budget requirements and more hours given to part time staff. While also keeping many new starters in the dark about their paid meal relief rights.

I have a DOM who implies that using SSow and delivery methods is Willfull delay . Bit more than implies really, takes you down the conduct code for 4 months despite the fact you stick to all the official procedures.
Welcome to our dystopian future.

Was it a big announcement by RM or CWU that we're all waiting for?General Mannerheim wrote:Still f**k all!General Mannerheim wrote:In terms of bullying , expect a big announcement in the next 72 hours

I was under the impression that the big announcement about culture was Sue Whalley's soundbites that's on RMTV (starting at about 02:40 on link below)
about the fact that we're all one big happy family now and need to work together towards the bright new shining future?
(Fast forward past Peter Tilley or you might end up throwing your phone or something at your screen - he disappeared for a bit prior to and during
the vote but he seems to have reappeared now).

No detail about this is all going to happen though.......

By all means be sceptical of it ! From someone who seen the level of detail I will remained concerned. We won’t have to long to wait to see which one of us is right.
If Royal Mail start using these PDAs to start measuring posties performance and for any other means that discredit the postie in any way then I wouldn't be in the least bit surprised to see many of them being dropped and/or lost.
The worst thing the CWU ever did is agree to anything relating to big brother watching our ar$e$. We don't want any Amazonian style practices in this company telling us how many parcels we scanned and that we are not scanning enough.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Not a cat in hells chance of that happening. Our DOM recently gave everyone the speech about these PDA actualls and when they were hammered aboiut stopping everyone from starting before their contracted time they just got the huff on.IloveMYredTROLLEY! wrote:IMO this is a giant leap into murky waters that the CWU agreed to far too cheaply, there should have been a phase of actually making OPGs do the job correctly via enforcement by DOM/linos... Same s**t different day never in a million years will RM management make every single person do the job exactly how its set out to be done. It looks good on paper but in reality we all know its bollocks.

Still waiting. So bullying is OK ,fairness and integrity are simply not realistic, share price and dividends are the b all and end all. Welcome to the cowboy economy anything goes cultivate your commandant ,slip and you will falldingo wrote: In terms of bullying , expect a big announcement in the next 72 hours and if the agreement comes in than an independent appointed person in the same way as Lord Sawyer was introduced in the 1990s will visit offices around the uk to speak with employees over their concerns and also see if the full terms of the agreement is being deployed. If anyone expected the company to put in a National Agreement there is wide spread bullying and this is what has been agreed to resolve it and what that would have done to the share price than your simply not being realistic. That is not to say that bullying is not being addressed .

Most PDAs have already lost their straps and stylus pens and quite a few of them already now have cracked screens. I guess when the postie has their hands full with a bundle of mail in one hand, the packet they haven't got rid of in the other plus the pen to write on the P739 card quite often means a bit of juggling around with the equipment. The new PDA straps didn't last 5 minutes. Maybe the business should just provide PDA holsters like they did with the old ones.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

That's why RM should look at getting everything barcoded. A small portable printer could be used to print out the P739s (something on the lines of what railway guards use)postslippete wrote:plus the pen to write on the P739 card quite often means a bit of juggling around with the equipment
