A company this size with the complexity that goes with the way the overtime is paid ( a week in arrears) is probably taking an extra week to ensure that the payments go through smoothly and without errors( I remember post on here saying that there would be a trial run to iron out any gliches), especially as we have had double bank holiday weeks and the financial year end in the mix too. The LTB was an attempt to let everyone know that the union are being kept in the loop as regards the planning of when and how to pay the arrears.
It is not as simple as hitting a button marked "add 5%". For example in the first qualifying week there will be payments for the previous week's overtime that would not qualify for the 5% increase. Also is our pension contributions a percentage of our pay, I think it is, so does that mean we will all have to pay extra pension contributions from October last year , and with PSE that would mean a whole new calculation to be made too. To do this for a dozen employees would be hard enough but for thousands I know I would not like to do it.
Why don't we all wait to find out when the plan is to pay the arrears before we all slate the company and the union like some have been doing.
The"Plan to pay" as you say should have been agreed , when the whole agreement everybody voted on was signed off !?
