POST OFFICE: INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS FRAMEWORK – UPDATE

Further to LTB 153/18 dated 14th March 2018. Branches will be aware that further discussions were scheduled to be held with the Post Office at ACAS on 3rd April in relation to the agreed new Representative Structure and a revised Industrial Relations Framework Agreement. We updated the Postal Executive on Wednesday regarding the recent progress made and we are in general terms relatively content with the developments arrived through the ACAS supported talks.

Whilst the direction of travel in terms of progress on this matter is positive and I am increasingly optimistic we will conclude a satisfactory agreement, we still have a way to go with regards to finalising the new IR Framework agreement itself. I am therefore pleased to report that following the constructive meeting on Tuesday, two additional dates have been agreed for further discussions at ACAS on Monday 14th and Friday 18th May. In the meantime, we will of course be continuing with our current Representative structure.

As previously advised, once a comprehensive agreement has been reached, a National Briefing for Branches with Post Office members will be held and subsequently the agreement will be placed before Branches for endorsement. Following these activities, nominations will be invited for candidates to stand for the new Representative roles.

I would like to place on record my thanks to Dave Prince, Chief Conciliator at ACAS, for his expertise and guidance during the talks.

We will be briefing our Representatives on Monday 9th April and I would like to thank them once again for their continued efforts whilst matters remain uncertain.
