Hi TrueBlueTerrier - did your grievance process on this get anywhere? I'm in a similar situation.

Wow, that's a blast from the past. I had to rack my brains.

Yes, the grievance worked (it was my first one). The manager was informed of the correct procedure and as I requested, him being a cover manager, I haven't had to work with him since.

As an addition, I believe he has since been sacked, though no idea why.

Good to hear it's taken seriously. I'll have a chat with my rep. Thanks.

My day was rubbish thanks. Had my day off and half was not delivered so left for me to do on Saturday and of course I didn't get it all done before getting back and being locked out ! Well today I said I couldn't complete all as there was loads of catalogues as well. Plus all the parcels that weren't delivered from my day off. Told I had to and didn't get finished til 5.30 with no breaks. Oh and I'm on a 25 hour contract. So today I claimed 6 hours overtime! I haven't had a sciatica flare up for years but after coming home it flared up. I am so fed up but haven't been there for long so can't complain too much. I am happy to come In early but don't really like working over. I am useless at being assertive and I know I need to be. But as I am not I really can't see me lasting long in this job

It is a challenge how assertive you really have to be to not be taken advantage of. I'm struggling with this at the moment from managers and even colleagues who also seem to insist on similar ideologies, but I'm hopeful if I can overcome this bit it could be great; it's nice being outside even if it is raining!

Have a good night and all the best

Don't be afraid to express how you feel. Don't let the managers make the job and you miserable. PackageForYou and I are in the same boat as you. I've contacted the union and so should you aswell. You can find my post in the bullying and harassment topic.

Finished today on a bit of a bad note due to a customer. Had to put a p739 through for a customer who didn't answer the door, I finish the block of flats and then she's waiting at the bottom of the stairs waving the card and said "You didn't even knock, just put this through?" :arrrghhh :arrrghhh Strange thing was, her neighbor across the hall opened their door after I knocked, because they thought I was knocking on their door! The knock was heard across the hall but the customer says I didn't even knock :chuckle. I find it infuriating when customers accuse me of not knocking or ringing the doorbell.

Makes me laugh when they don't hear you knocking the door down. But they manage to hear the p739 hit the floor :arrrghhh

Yeah, like it's quicker for us to write out a red card, as against handing over a box, saying 'parcel for you' and having it in the way in yer pouch for the rest of the loop :arrrghhh

Drives me barmy too! This job would be all right if it wasn't for the customers....

Long.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Another busy day today, haven't had a quiet one all week! Lots of council letters, and even more letters for nearly every address from a PO Box in Normanton.
