No
cpsteve wrote: if not how can we vote on it.
It's a vote on acceptance in principle rather than on if its legal or not. According to the evidence given in parliament, DWP mandarins think that changes to the law required to bring in CDC are "minimal".

It may be a shite deal, but unfortunately within a few years it will probably be the best deal that is available in this country as businesses, public bodies, institutions are ditching defined benefit schemes as fast as they are ditching their employees as the quest to maintain profitability/retain services ramps up in response to investor greed or government cuts.

I will be voting yes.
The pay agreement in not perfect, yes below inflation, but it is decent.
Pensions, for me with 3 years to go, not really an issue for me. If I was a younger postman, yes I would be asking questions about the pension.
But overall I think, in the long term, it is better than Royal Mail's original cash balance scheme. (which actually suits me better with the little service, I have left to do).
Pipe line and extended hours. I think as long as Royal Mail bend over backwards to ensure as much flexibility as possible, to allow as many to finish as near as their current times, the more chance of pleasing postpersons and getting a yes vote.
Sick leave. Well this is the unknown. We will have a working group. We have no idea, what this will recommend? Will it limit sick days, reduce pay? Very open ended.
But think of RM original proposals. Of course, they may have proposed Armageddon, knowing that in reality, the City were really only ever after limiting exposure to pensions.
Overall though, it's a yes from me.

Claims by the CWU top table that the wage increases in the proposed agreement are exceptional and go against the grain seem to be wide of the mark.

If the CWU had all reps go out on a token half hour strike, would that be enough to keep the strike vote ballot "live"?

If there is a massive no vote Royal Mail have a very big problem on their hands as do the CWU.

So here it goes. Comparing a nurse too a Postie, is like comparing apples and oranges. A nurse takes Years of training, a Postie, and I don’t want to sound disrespectful, takes a few weeks to become efficient.

Our wages and terms of conditions as I have already stated, are for unskilled workers very good. Full time, in London, with this new deal, if there is a yes vote, we be over £26000, we additional earning opportunities. I personally cannot remember when I earnt less then £35000 a year.

Our hourly rate will be over £13 an hour. For a unskilled job. I get for over 20 years service 6 weeks holiday a week. Plus very generous sick leave .

This all cost money! And don’t forget, the business has over 100,000 employees.

In my opinion, if this deal gets rejected, I very much doubt that we will be offered a better one. And if there is strike action to try to squeeze more from them, and the consequences being that we lose contracts because of it, expect to find yourselves being asked to reapply for your job at considerably less money, and inferior T&C.

That is why I’m voting YES.
The definition of unskilled means you need no training or a learning curve to do the job "postman is definitely not unskilled " once you know the job it becomes easier
You may have to do the job differently every day which requires experience in my opinion experience is a skill

Inner London £13:26per hour +£23:96ds
Outer London £12:56per hour +£23:96ds
National £10:57per hour +£23:96ds
Also places like oxford and wider south west/east get some (high cost of living allowance of approximately) £1300 per year.
Hope this helps.

If there is a no vote , it means the folks promoting this deal do not represent the aspirations of the membership.

Will we see a purge of the careerists , something like bye bye Blairs boys?

From what I am seeing on the Facebook vids we're posting, there seems to be a massive love in and the reps no doubt will be pushing the agreement big time to their members.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Not surprised by that. Don't know how typical this is ,but my rep gets saturday's off on demand ,day release to plan cutting FT duties, constructs his own walk , switches to acting manager when it suits ,and fails to enforce any active agreements. More worrying though ,is that area ,and division are fully aware of the situation and actually prop it up.
Any point going national ? Or are they all feeding from the same trough?

Having watched these videos from this forum I am not sure whether they are the same as on facebook as I do not subscribe to facebook. If they are then it is surprising that none of them show any of the questions that were being asked. I found the whipping up of the audience by Terry Pullinger no more than a pantomime act. It appeared that all of the interviewees were preprepped and waiting for their queue for their nice little chat with the interviewer whilst everyone else could not wait to get out.
