What is CDC and does it matter?

The new CDC scheme will not accrue any form of liability for the ‘targeted’ 1/80th pension until the scheme starts (if it ever does). So, Govt take your time, no need to rush on RM’s part, post 31 March 2018. We can avoid any future/potential liability anyway under new CDC scheme rules as nothing is guaranteed.

In the meantime, RMPP members have to accept the fact that 19.6% of pensionable pay. p.a.(along with potential increases) will be tucked to one side under the DBCBC for an enhanced lump sum at 65, until such time as CDC eventually begins. Oh, and also without the access pension freedom, afforded under the now jointly abandoned DC scheme option.

I'm voting no. I have major concerns about future funding as our colleagues retire and are replaced by part time staff, or not replaced at all.

There are way too many questions left unanswered for members to make an informed decision either way.

It's like buying a car without a test drive, any documentation, any performance data or even a picture since it hasn't even been developed yet but you've been told by the salesman it will be fast, red and called a CDC so that's ok then.
