LTB 030/18 - LINDA ROY – CWU NATIONAL OFFICER
No: 030/18
17th January 2018
TO: ALL BRANCHES
Dear Colleague
LINDA ROY – CWU NATIONAL OFFICER
The purpose of this LTB is to announce that Linda Roy, CWU National Officer, has decided to leave the union at the end of February 2018.
The CWU would wish to place on record our sincere thanks for the work Linda has done on behalf of our members over many years.
Linda was elected to the Postal Executive and NEC in 1995 to 2002 and subsequently became the Assistant Secretary Equal Opportunities in 2008.
Linda Roy has made an immense contribution to the union and has led a number of very important initiatives to take forward our Equality Agenda. Linda has also been a role model and good example to women across the whole union and has demonstrated her own strength of character to the union and our members throughout her career.
In due course, we will ensure Linda’s contribution is properly recognised. In the meantime, we know that Branches, Representatives and members will join us in thanking Linda and wish her all the best for the future.
Finally, we will advise Branches prior to Linda’s departure on the arrangements that will be put in place to ensure the work and services provided by the Equality Department will be maintained.
Any enquiries on the above LTB should be addressed to the gsoffice@cwu.org.
Yours sincerely
Dave Ward
General Secretary

Have you an Equality Rep fishy as we've not had one for 2 years in our divison.
Royal Mail managers.....about as popular as a t.urd in a swimming pool!
The DDA/Equality Act demands action,NOT words......adjustments NOT Occupational Health referrals.Case No:2505901/09
Royal Mail is an Equal Opportunities Employer..It discriminates against everybody.

Linda, have a happy retirement you have fully deserved it, Linda had strong opposition for the Equal Ops position when advertised but she pulled it off.

Waste of time ! She was involved in the attempted sacking of one of my colleagues after He posted a comment on social media. She contacted Royal Mail HR directly instead of getting in touch with the branch I am led to believe.

You mean you heard from a mate down the pub basically. Without knowing the nature of the post, or the reason why she felt the need to take action its impossible to say whether that action was merited or not.
Having met her personally a few times I seriously doubt she would have taken such a step without some deep thinking, in fact, I seriously doubt she would do what you are accusing her of. At the moment it's an unsubstantiated rumour and to be frank, if its true and you believe it, why are you posting such an accusation on "Social Media" with the possible consequences being such as you allude to.

If someone posted an inappropriate comment on social media why would you contact their branch?, the branch has no power to interview, reprimand or censure an individual member.
