Pay wise D2Ds and Delivery Supplement are not related.

The DS is recognition of the particular challenges that posties in the Delivery Function face.

Other functions get their own supplement but none are quite as much as the DS.

Collections Posties will only get the full DS if they are either tagged to a delivery office and/or do Delivery work alongside collections.

Getting fed up at the moment, but I know that ultimately the stress should lay at the manager's door....I can only do my best and nothing more.

Grateful to have this job, however I am going to start looking for others right now as it is getting more impossible day by day.

It’s hard to do but remember we are only pushing bits of paper through letterboxes and that you have a start time and finish time try not to get stressed over it

Seen those just now as I was walking out of the office. Definitely going to cause a lot of trouble on shop floors but the people in charge of these haven't a clue. Will definitely cause a lot of grief, stress and trouble for some and could well be a tipping point for a few more walk-outs in some offices

Very difficult day. The person normally on my route is back at the office at 2.30/3.00. Earliest I've been back is today at 4.30! It's the end of my first week now. Is this normal?? I'm really not sure how to get the time down.

Yes that is entirely normal. For 6 to 8 weeks or even more with Christmas round the corner, you will be slower at getting round, and it should be expected as well.

About 8 weeks in all of a sudden you will find yourself getting done a lot quicker but you won't be able to explain why. Its a mixture of you and your body getting used to the physical side, and the various processes.

Hang in, survive until end of January and you'll probably start enjoying it.

Excellent. That's very nice to read, thank you. The office have been great about my timings - very supportive.

Typically, how long are newbies kept on a duty until they learn a second one? I'd fully expect that it won't be until the new year at this stage.

Each office is different so can't say for certain. However, as there is a leave ban over Christmas it means that there are more posties available and therefore less disruption and moving around of the reserves.

My feeling is they probably won't move you until after Christmas but it might be worth asking your trainer/manager just to put your mind at rest.

Its great knowing dont have to face them pair of so called managers, especially when its getting busier, they get nastier when they cannot handle the pressure and then take it out on the posties.
